Have you ever heard of a “calcium shell”?

I’ve seen this show up on a few HTMA (Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis) tests lately, and it always gets my attention.

A calcium shell happens when calcium builds up in the tissues as a kind of “protective armor.” On the surface it might sound helpful, but in reality it can block your body from absorbing other key minerals and can even make your thyroid, adrenals, and mood feel stuck.

Why does it happen?
👉 Long-term stress
👉 Suppressed emotions or trauma stored in the body
👉 Mineral imbalances that the body is trying to buffer

Common signs someone may be dealing with a calcium shell:

National Osteoporosis Day – The Calcium Connection

Most people think of calcium as the “bone mineral.”
And yes — it’s critical for strong bones. But here’s something you probably haven’t heard: too much calcium in the wrong place can actually work against you.

On HTMA (Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis), I sometimes see what’s called a “calcium shell.”
This happens when calcium builds up in the tissues, almost like armor. Instead of strengthening bones, it can block the body from using calcium effectively.
