For the Dementia caregiver especially, “being all there” is meant for “the moment”. The moments that are rare but capture golden opportunities we need so much. It’s the brief occurrence of pure quality. The sudden brilliance of light that chases away the mundane, bringing clarity to confusion. It sparks energy in weariness. We can’t always revel in seizing the day or what good it may bring. Instead we watch for the beauty of living in that next moment. The element of surprise that brings back our Loved One we once knew. We see that smile, hear that laugh or recognize that renewed look in their eyes. It makes us laugh and cry as well.
