Attended my alumni USC Leonard Davis School of Gerontology for a fantastic Tech Symposium focusing on applying technology to address the challenges faced by an aging population, with innovation, collaboration, and discussion on the intersection of aging and technology. The presenters were in the fore front of various industry. David Krane CEO and managing partner of Google Ventures, Debra Whitman PhD, Chief Public Policy Officer AARP, Bong-Keun Jung OTD Professor (Research) Seoul National University, as well venture capitalist, Peter Want Phd, Biomedical Engineering and Molecular Microbiology & Immunology, USC Viterbi School of Engineering and many others.
The marrying of technology and humanity together to achieve sustainable prosperity is imperative with the pyramid of those aging greater than those in the population less than 5 years old today called the "birth below replacement rates in the world today" . The shift is happening with Asia seeing this a few years before the U.S. With technology things can be achieved to help those in this process and with many prongs to help the aging live healthier lives with technology in many areas. The human aspect will always be a very large component but it is truly a time to expand our thinking and action to what and how technology can achieve for a more comprehensive outcome for all of us in the aging process no matter our age.
