As a former athlete (NCAA Div. II swimmer), I know the demands of sports on the body. Dueto my own injuries I have experienced in sports, I have a huge passion for helping athletes recovering from injury and getting them “back in the game". My approach to treating sports injuries is finding the root cause and CONSERVATIVELY (no unnecessary drugs, surgery) using proven and effective manual sports medicine and chiropractic care.
As I have treated sports injuries in my practice over the last 13 years, I have found that effectiveness of treatment, particularly in sports injuries, is of utmost importance in order for the athlete to continue to perform at the desired level. It is for this reason, I decided to get certified as a Chiropractic Sports Physician, a course that requires over 100 hours of live and online coursework combined in the area of Sports Medicine. The Doctors teaching this course are highly respected in the field of Sports Medicine, some of who currently treat Olympians at the US Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs. I feel very fortunate to be learning state-of-the-art sports injury treatment and rehabilitation techniques through this course!
In addition, to address the importance of Sports Injury awareness and education in the community I will be taking a course in March, focused on educating coaches, league directors, parents and players on CONCUSSIONS, REHABILITATION, INJURY PREVENTION and SPORTS NUTRITION. This course is being taught by 2 NFL team doctors who are passionate about bringing awareness and education to every youth sport community they can. I believe education is the key to preventing serious injuries in our youth. I am excited to take this course to learn more and share this pertinent information with our community.
