When a spirit drops off a sign in your backyard, it can be a profound experience. This Valentine’s Day was particularly challenging for me. It brought up a new wave of grief that I hadn’t anticipated. Losing my mom in August 2024 has affected me in various ways. Sometimes, signs from the spirit world can be comforting messages, like a butterfly fluttering past you or a hummingbird visiting your window. Perhaps it’s your dad’s favorite NFL quarterback’s football number. However, my mom was never known for subtlety. This Valentine’s Day ended in tears, not negative tears, but tears of remembrance. Throughout my adult years, my mom always ensured that there was a small token on the kitchen table for Valentine’s Day. When I had children, she continued this tradition and would make sure we stopped by grandma’s house to present her with a valentine from school and the artwork we had created. Each of them would receive a valentine gift on her kitchen table. I understand why every holiday, regardless of its significance, holds such deep meaning for me. It’s because of her. Although it’s a few days late, she sent me a valentine in the form of a balloon in our backyard. I believe it’s because she’s been occupying my thoughts since Valentine’s Day. It’s just another subtle way of her letting me know that she’s still with me. Continue to hold onto that love.

Today was a tough one. One of those days that reminds you how fragile life can be when it fits in the palm of your hand. But we made it through. Stormy made it through.

There is still fight in this little soul, and we are still taking small, meaningful steps forward. We are not out of the woods by any means, but we have crossed an important milestone, 96 hours, and that matters more than words can say. Every breath she takes, every ounce gained, every quiet moment she chooses to stay… it all counts.

If you have a moment today, please send prayers, love, light, reiki, positive thoughts, whatever language your heart speaks, toward our preemie girl. She is surrounded by care, warmth, and love, and we are holding hope right alongside her. Thank you for walking this journey with us. Tiny paws. Big fight. Endless love.

What a morning into afternoon. Bay had 7 kittens. She was a champion! We have 2 tuxedo, 3 all black, and 2 grey tabbies. One is a runt I am bottle feeding to make sure we get him feed and not pushed out with all those hungry mouths.
