Our Essex Junction office will be closed today due to a power outage. We were hopeful to have power restored this morning but that was not possible. If you had an appointment scheduled for today, we will contact you to reschedule. This was certainly unexpected and we apologize for the inconvenience.

Based on this announcement and similar updates, we will not be opening on 4/16. We will announce our re-opening date when it is deemed safe to do so. In the meantime we are available by email at info@eyecareofvt.com for contact lens orders, medication refills, and general questions.

The governor warned of difficult days ahead but sounded a hopeful note about Covid-19 restrictions.

Dear Patients,

We look forward to seeing you again when it’s safe to do so. In the meantime we have delayed our re-opening to Thursday, April 16. Please be safe, wash your hands, support local businesses, and stay home if you can.

While our physical offices are closed, we are doing our best to help our patients in any way we can. We are available by email at info@eyecareofvt.com. Through that email we can order refills of medications or eye drops, answer questions about urgent eye care needs, and process contact lens orders to ship to you directly. If you ordered glasses before March 18, we may be able to mail those to you as well.

We will contact patients to reschedule any affected appointments after we open. We sincerely hope that remaining closed to in-person services during this time will help protect our patients, staff, and the larger community from this virus.

For updates on our state’s response to COVID-19, go to vermont.gov/covid19.

Stay safe and healthy!

We are still monitoring the COVID-19 situation as it develops and will post any updates for our practice here. We appreciate the messages of support and understanding we've received from patients.

In the meantime, please remember that if you need your prescription eye drops or medications refilled, or need to order contact lenses, you can reach us by email at info@eyecareofvt.com

Dear Patients,

At EyeCare of Vermont, your eye health and overall well-being is our first priority. We have closely monitored the spread of the novel coronavirus/COVID-19. As you are no doubt aware, there have been recently discovered cases of COVID-19 with indications of community spread here in Vermont. State and local officials have taken steps this week to reduce transmission and protect vulnerable populations. The Center for Disease Control has also recommended that patients postpone routine eye exams. For the safety of our patients and staff, we have decided to temporarily close our practice, effective today. We plan to re-open at 8:00 AM on Monday, April 6.

We will be contacting all patients who have scheduled appointments during this period so we can reschedule them as soon as possible. We appreciate your patience and cooperation as we navigate this challenging time. If you are in urgent need of care, we will have an on-call doctor who can be reached via pager by calling our office.

We believe it is critically important for all members of our community to help “flatten the curve” and reduce the spread of this dangerous virus. For up to date information on COVID-19, please refer to the Vermont Department of Health or the CDC.

Stay safe and healthy!

We could all use some good news this week.

Amid an onslaught of anxiety-provoking news, the inquisitive birds provided a rare moment of joy.

COVID-19 Update: While EyeCare of Vermont continues to provide care, we are monitoring the developing situation very closely. We are doing our very best to keep the offices clean and safe. We have expanded our existing sanitation policies and have removed non-essential items that could spread germs between patients.

For the safety of our patients and staff, we are asking any patients who have traveled outside the country recently or been sick within the past two weeks to reschedule any appointments. We also very strongly recommend that at-risk patients (elderly, immunocompromised, etc.) reschedule at least 3 weeks out.

We will continue to post updates here as we learn more from local, state, and federal governments.

This applies for eye exams, too!

Many of our patients are vulnerable to flu and other communicable diseases. For their safety and that of our staff, we ask that anyone with fever, respiratory infection, or other flu-like symptoms reschedule any appointments. We will be happy to find another appointment time when you're feeling better. Thank you and stay safe!

Everything you need to know about the flu illness, including symptoms, treatment and prevention.

Attention contact lens wearers! EyeCare of Vermont is participating in a recycling program which collects used contact lenses, blister packs, and foil labels. Help us prevent those items from ending up in landfills or polluting the ocean. Materials can be dropped off in either office.
