✅ Sleep on your back or side (not your stomach!)
✅ Use a pillow that supports your neck, which may look different sleeping on your side vs your back.
✅ Put a pillow between your knees if you sleep on your side
✅ Choose a medium-firm mattress for optimal support
✅ Keep your head aligned with your shoulders, not tucked into your chest

✅ Use your legs & core, not just your arms
✅ Keep your back straight, limiting twisting as you swing
✅ Stand with feet shoulder-width apart for stability

Back-to-school season is here—and so are heavy backpacks! But did you know that improper backpack use is a leading cause of back and shoulder pain in kids and teens?

Here are a few tips:
✅ Choose a backpack with padded straps & a waist belt
✅ Wear both straps to evenly distribute weight
✅ Keep weight under 10–15% of the child’s body weight
✅ Pack heaviest items closest to the back
✅ Encourage kids to clean out their bag weekly

Unfortunately, air quality alerts are becoming more common—and they don’t just affect your lungs.

Poor air quality can trigger inflammation, fatigue, and even worsen joint or muscle pain. 🌀

On high-alert days, keep windows closed, stay hydrated, use air purifiers, and consider indoor activities as opposed to outdoor. Your body (and lungs) will thank you.

✅ Apply (and reapply!) broad-spectrum SPF
✅ Wear a hat + sunglasses
✅ Take breaks in the shade
✅ Hydrate often
✅ Limit exposure during the hottest/sunniest part of the day

Lounging in Adirondak chairs, beach chairs, or hammocks all day? Great for relaxing, but rough on your spine.

Use a rolled towel behind your lower back and switch positions often to help your body.

Sometimes a folded towel or foam wedge under your bum and legs can also improve positioning and reduce the load on your body!
