The timing couldn’t have been more perfect for this project!

Residents gathered together, enjoying great conversation while joining forces to prepare peanut butter bagel feeders for our feathered friends. Laughter, teamwork, and a shared purpose filled the room, making the activity just as rewarding as it was fun.

It was a wonderful way to connect, create, and give a little something back to nature—all at the same time.

Residents recently had the pleasure of welcoming pianist Doug McKeehan for a live performance on stage in Hamilton Hall.

Doug delighted listeners with timeless selections from the Great American Songbook, featuring works by Gershwin, Ellington, and Cole Porter, along with contemporary favorites by Stevie Wonder, Joni Mitchell, and Paul McCartney.

Residents enjoyed the performance either in person in Hamilton Hall or from the comfort of their own homes via our in-house television station. It was a wonderful evening of music that brought joy and beautiful sounds throughout our community.

Happy New Year… just a couple of weeks later! 🎉

At Essex Meadows, there are no rules when it comes to celebrating—especially when it’s time for a party. Due to a few scheduling overlaps, our New Year’s Eve celebration took place a bit later than usual, but that didn’t slow anyone down.

So many of our residents joined in, and everyone had a blast enjoying live music, delicious food, and plenty of dancing—dancing—and more dancing! It was a wonderful way to ring in the New Year together, filled with laughter, energy, and great company.

Here’s to a joyful and exciting year ahead at Essex Meadows!

It was an absolutely perfect day for a winter hike! Bright sunshine, zero wind, and great snow conditions underfoot made for an ideal outing.

These winter warriors followed Turtle Creek along the West Green Trail toward South Cove, looped around the edge of the preserve, and returned via the East Green Trail to the Orange Trail. Along the way, they spied the largest stand of Mountain Laurel they had ever seen in Connecticut.

The group is already looking forward to repeating this hike in June, when they hope to see the Mountain Laurel in full bloom!
