During a Funeral, a memorial gathering or even remembrance on Facebook can be hard to attended or see. The words we, has humans, try to convey when talking about grief or death is difficult. The emotions gathering in us for the missing or the surrounding loved ones can cause the thought process to slow, or even no longer be present. When that day comes to see the loved ones gathering around and you feel compelled to speak, what do we say? Sometimes the words are jumbled, emotions are present or just a loss for words and we need guidance.
Through my journey with Grief, I have found that poems put the unspoken words together beautifully. While finding a poem, choose one that speaks to you and your journey with Grief. Here are a few I have found….
I think
Of all the experiences,
Both good and bad,
I have had
Since you’ve been gone,
And it breaks
The last solid shards
Of my heart
To know that I will never
Been able
To speak of them
With you// Edward Lee
There was no goodbye,
Just an absence, sudden,
Abrupt, and louder than any voice could be.// Edward Lee
Grief
I have decided that the only way to live.
Is to embrace grief.
For grief only exists where love lived first // Francesca Cox
