When you’re living with a spinal cord injury, the smallest change can feel like a big deal. I founded NeuroCare because I live with an SCI myself, and I know that feeling of wondering if a slight fever i s going to lead to a hospital stay.

That’s why we’re here 24/7: to catch those small signs for our clients before they turn into emergencies. My goal is to ensure every person we serve has the proactive support they need to stay home and healthy.

Proactive care isn't just about vitals; it's about peace of mind for the client and their family. We’re here around the clock because life doesn’t stop at 5 PM.

If you're looking for care from a team that truly gets it from a personal perspective, I’d love to chat.

Stop the caregiver revolving door. 🛑

One of the hardest parts of home care isn’t just the injury: it’s the constant turnover.
New faces. New routines. Re-explaining everything.

Families deserve consistency. Clients deserve dignity. And trust shouldn’t reset every few weeks.

At NeuroCare Home Health, we work hard to stop the “revolving door” by supporting the people who show up every day. Many of our admin team live with spinal cord or neurological injuries themselves: so we get what it takes to build a sustainable care team.

When caregivers feel supported, they stay.
And when they stay, families can finally exhale.

If you’re looking for care that feels steady, familiar, and truly collaborative( we’re here.) 24/7.

35 years after the ADA, “accessible” hotel rooms still aren’t reliably accessible.

NPR recently covered what so many wheelchair users already know: you can do everything “right” : call ahead, confirm the accessible room, confirm the roll-in shower : and still arrive to something that doesn’t work.

Speaking from lived experience: about a third of the time, even after confirming, the roll-in shower isn’t actually available or usable. Sometimes it’s a tub. Sometimes there’s a lip you can’t safely cross. Sometimes the bathroom layout makes transferring impossible.

That’s not a minor inconvenience. It’s dignity. It’s safety. It’s whether you can travel at all.

We can do better : and we should expect better.

If you’ve run into this, what’s the most common “accessible room” issue you’ve faced?

If your pet is family, they belong in your care plan.

At NeuroCare Home Health, we know recovery after a spinal cord or brain injury isn’t just meds and appointments: it’s the everyday comfort of having your furry best friend close.

That’s why we build care around real life at home:
• Help with daily routines so you can stay present with your pet
• Safe mobility support around the house
• Transportation help so vet visits and errands don’t fall on family alone

Because healing happens in the small moments: quiet companionship, a wagging tail, and feeling normal again.

If you’re caring for someone with a spinal cord injury (SCI) or traumatic brain injury (TBI), “high‑tech” home care can mean a lot more than basic help.

At NeuroCare Home Health, our caregivers are trained to support complex routines like catheter care and other SCI-specific needs—safely, consistently, and with respect.

If you’re a Michigan case manager, attorney, or family member supporting an auto accident survivor, we’re happy to be a resource.

Here is a great story about someone who used their personal experience with spinal cord injury experience to create positive change.

After an unexpected spinal cord injury during surgery left her mother paralyzed in 2020, M1 Madeline Shoemaker says her entire family wrestled endlessly with the tough questions of why.

“She always asks herself, ‘Why did this happen to me, why did this happen to our family?’” Shoemaker recalled recently.

The answer, in some ways, can be found in the events that followed her mother’s surgery, Shoemaker said.

Today, Shoemaker is in medical school and pursuing her MD degree at because of what happened to her mother. She’s also become a fierce advocate for improving accessibility in healthcare for patients with disabilities.

What if the future of spinal cord injury (SCI) recovery was just a beam of light away? Wayne State’s scientists are reimagining therapy using infrared technology: targeting the body’s cells in a way that could mean less damage, more healing, and better outcomes, even from home. For those of us living with SCI, this brings real hope: easier recovery, less dependence on invasive treatments, and more independence in daily life.

At NeuroCare Home Health, we know progress matters. That’s why we’re always staying close to new breakthroughs and considering every therapy or partnership that could help our clients thrive. We believe in turning scientific innovation into meaningful everyday improvements; one person, one moment at a time. We’re here for big changes and the small victories, together.

Even with the recent court win, Michigan’s auto insurance changes still fall short for SCI/TBI survivors and their families. Yes, there’s more hope for some folks injured since 2019: but family-provided care is still capped at just 56 hours a week. For many, that’s nowhere near enough to stay safe, independent, and at home.

At NeuroCare, we see every day how much families give, how they hold things together even when the system doesn’t. Real care is about dignity, choice, and not having to fight for basics. Michigan can do better. Let’s keep pushing for a system that supports all survivors, every hour of every day( because care shouldn’t come with limits.)

Matching caregivers who truly understand spinal cord injuries isn’t just a nice-to-have: it’s at the very heart of how we help our clients thrive. When you’ve been there yourself, you know the difference between what’s in a textbook and what it takes to live life every single day with strength and independence.

At NeuroCare, many of our team members have walked (or wheeled!) the same path as our clients. That means every moment of care is infused with empathy, respect, and genuine insight. We believe in lived experience because it creates real trust, comfort, and encouragement on both sides.

Ready to see how peer-to-peer understanding can empower your journey? Let’s talk about what’s possible together.

Life after a spinal cord injury can still be full of moments like this.

I'm Nick Long, Founder of NeuroCare Home Health. I live with a C6 spinal cord injury, and it's a big part of why we built NeuroCare around one simple idea: the right support helps people keep living their life not just getting through the day.

If you're in Michigan and navigating long-term care after an auto accident (SCI or TBI), we're here to help with 24/7, one-on-one home care.
