Good oral function including adequate tongue suction are important for more than just getting fed. Many babies can feed without optimal oral function but it still puts them at risk for poor growth of their palate and facial structures, difficulty with self regulation, and higher risk for mouth breathing. The key to helping these babies is not only addressing issues in the mouth but the whole body due to the connections of the tongue all the way to the tip of the toes! Core Pediatric Therapy specializes in treating infants and children HEAD TO TOE with oral work, body work, and reflex work to treat efficiently and effectively. The earlier you can identify concerns in your infant, when the important reflexes for overall development are being developed, the better the chance of achieving a good result in limited sessions. Please don’t wait and see, early intervention is key!
