What is SHINE Direct Primary Care?

Shine Direct Primary Care evolved from Dr. Frances Romero’s desire to help people shine during dark times. After being burnt out by the system and going through a life changing experience, Dr. Romero decided that it was time for her to follow her goals of opening a practice where patients always came first and asking about insurance was irrelevant. The Direct Primary Care model is the perfect way of providing accessible and transparent healthcare. Unfortunately, patients don’t want to go to their doctors because:

1. They are afraid of all the bills they receive just by walking inside of a clinic’s door.

2. They never get appointments when it is actually needed, i.e., an acute illness. Therefore they end up going to the urgent care or to the Emergency Department.

3. Insurance has become too expensive. Insurance is costly. Patients are paying >$700 a month for health insurance but not receiving the health care that they need.
