I almost didn't go. Again.

The alarm went off and the list started immediately.

"I'm tired."
"I have so much to do today."
"I'll just go tomorrow."

And here's the part that gets me every single time

I teach yoga. I run the classes. I am the instructor.

And I still have mornings where showing up feels like the hardest thing on the list.

Because the hardest part was never the yoga.

It was always the getting there.

The internal battle. The negotiating. The hundred tiny reasons your brain hands you to stay comfortable instead.

But here's what I've learned and I mean really learned, in my bones:

You never regret showing up. Not once.

The second you unroll your mat, something in you exhales. The noise in your head quiets. Your body takes over. And suddenly you're not thinking about your to-do list or your inbox or whatever was weighing on you ten minutes ago.

You're just present. Breathing. Moving. Exactly where you need to be.

Yoga won't challenge you, they said.

I showed up to my first class thinking the same thing.

Just some light stretching. Maybe sit cross-legged. Feel zen. No big deal.

Then I held my first plank.

Then my arms started shaking in downward dog.

Then I realized my core was working in ways I had never felt before in my life.

And I thought, this is not what I thought this was.

What your yoga teacher notices but won’t tell you.

We notice when you:

Hold your breath (especially in challenging poses)
Compare yourself to the person next to you
Skip modifications because you think they’re “cheating”
Rush through poses to keep up
Tense your jaw and shoulders
Check your phone during savasana
Apologize for your body
Force yourself into poses you’re not ready for

Here’s what we want you to know:

Your breath matters more than the pose.
Modifications are intelligence, not weakness.
The person next to you isn’t watching you.
Going slower is often more advanced.
Relaxing takes practice too.
Savasana is the most important pose.
Your body doesn’t need to apologize.
Listening to your limits is the practice.

We see you:

When you show up tired and do it anyway
When you try something scary
When you let yourself rest
When you honor where you are today
When you keep coming back

That’s what actually matters.

Not how deep your fold is.
Not how straight your handstand is.
Not how flexible you are.
Just that you’re here.
