We are so excited to host our first ever Resource Sharing Night/Trunk-or-Treat on October 30 from 5:30 PM to 7 PM in the birth center parking lot.

This is a unique opportunity to learn about local resources for parents and families AND trick or treat with your little ones in a safe, not-too-spooky location.

Our Community Birth Center staff and board members, as well as community partners, such as Parenting Now and Team Duckling: UO Psychology, will have their trunks decorated and have information to share with you about their programs.

This is free to attend and open to all community members.

Carrying is CULTURAL 👶🏾🌍

The word “babywearing” was coined by a White pediatrician in the 80’s, BUT infant carrying has been practiced since the beginning of human history and has a rich cultural significance in Indigenous communities around the world. 🌍

đź–¤ With humility, Nurturely acknowledges the colonial history of suppressing, claiming, and commodifying traditional childrearing practices, including infant carrying.

đź–¤ With respect, Nurturely celebrates cultural variation in infant carrying and believes that members of each culture know best how to carry their babies.

đź–¤ With open-mindedness, Nurturely acknowledges the techniques and guidelines we share are adaptations of Indigenous practices that may or may not be relevant to all.

Want to learn more about the benefits and history behind baby carrying? Become a Perinatal Equity Advocate and expand your knowledge on supporting pregnant and postpartum individuals! ✨👶🏾

Meet Bryan!
Bryan is one of OBWC’s Midwife Assistants/Birth Assistant. Bryan is a huge asset to our team, not only because he is tall….being able to reach the top shelf for all of the shorties in the clinic, but he is also a licensed paramedic. He greets our families with a smile, has a calm demeanor, and is extremely experienced in the medical field.

Bryan originally started his career at age 18 as a firefighter/ EMT. He has well over 15 years of emergency medicine experience, 10 of those year working in a hospital emergency room.
