We’re excited to highlight the Grow Lane County Project, an initiative supported in part by LCHC to address the social factors that impact health, specifically food insecurity.

This five-year effort brings together FOOD For Lane County, Upper Willamette Soil & Water Conservation District, and Ensoterra, a food systems consultant, to improve access to locally grown food. The goal is to support community health by increasing access to Lane County–grown foods, with a focus on Oregon-grown options when local isn’t available.

If you’d like to get involved, visit the Grow Lane County website and check out the Coalition page to learn more about what it means to join and sign up. Working Groups and Steering Committee roles are open, with stipends available. Keep an eye out for updates through Mailchimp (don’t forget to check spam or trash folders).

We’re honored to share that LCHC has received a Those That Inspire award as part of the Lane Community College Foundation’s 2025 President’s Circle! This recognition celebrates our ongoing investment in student success. Specifically, our 2022 Shared Savings funding, which is helping expand access to clinical education for LCC students in health professional programs.

Our Executive Director, Rhonda Busek, was joined at the award reception by Board Chair Dr. Catherine York and Board Treasurer Jamie Louie-Smith. Also pictured are Dr. Stephanie Bulger, president of LCC, and two LCC students who received scholarships supported by these funds.

We’re proud to support Lane County’s future healthcare professionals and grateful to be recognized for helping grow the local healthcare workforce through curriculum development, equipment support, and scholarships.

Yesterday’s Grow Lane County Food Security Summit brought together people working toward a healthier, more resilient food system in Lane County: food pantries, health care professionals, farmers, producers, ranchers, community gardeners, farmers market and food hub staff, nutrition and other educators, public health workers and more. From big-picture planning to local solutions, the day was filled with meaningful conversations and actionable ideas.

Thank you to everyone who joined Lane Community Health Council and to our partners at FOOD For Lane County, Upper Willamette Soil & Water Conservation District and their RARE Americorps Farm & Food Coordinator, and Ensoterra for helping make it happen! Special thanks to Commissioner Laurie Trieger for sharing her experiences as our keynote speaker.
