It's time to get back on stage! I will be playing the spunky character of Aunt Eller in "Oklahoma!" in November.

In August of 1992, I played an ensemble member with ACE at the Soreng Theater at the Hult Center, and in 2009, I played "Gertie" (the laughing, obnoxious friend) with The Shedd in The Silva Concert Hall.
Fun fact.....in 2009 I was pregnant in that show and now Jackson says "I was in my first show". 👦🏼

I always appreciated our Director Richard taking the extra care during the girl fight with "Ado Annie" and "Gertie". The entire cast was also so supportive and considerate.
I also appreciated the support of our Costumer Mary because she always reminded me how my measurements were expanding each week. 🙂 My favorite comment was...."It's a good thing the show is closing this weekend since your costume might not fit next weekend."

Impromptu camping trip. Unfortunately, we didn’t get a big enough spot for the trailer so Jackson and I roughed it with the tent. We had quite an adventure in 24 hours.
This kind of camping is a bit out of my comfort zone, but he was a great help unpacking and packing plus setting up camp. He brought in firewood and took good care of his Mom. Of course, Oscar had a great time and  it was his first time in a boat and sleeping in a tent. ⛺️ 🌲,🐾🌲😎

Next Up....🎭
I'm working as a Choreographer and Acting Coach at The Shedd Institute’s E. Y. Harburg Academy for Musical Theatre this summer. It's our High School three week intensive program.
The Shedd presents "The Road To Hilarity", a tribute to the 6 "Road" comedy films released by Paramount Pictures between 1940 and 1952 featuring Bing Crosby, Bob Hope and Dorothy Lamour. Starting with Road to Singapore and ending with Road To Bali these films "Captain Custard", "It's Always You", "Road To Morocco", "Moonlight Becomes You", "Personality", "Put 'Er There, Pal", "But Beautiful", "Chicago Style", and so many more!
Two Shows: Saturday, July 26 at 3:00p and 5:30pm – Adults $10.00, Youth $5.00

Unfortunately, we didn't receive the fancy coach as our bonus, but we definitely appreciate the effort and details that go into building these beautiful coaches.💛

First on the summer theater agenda is our Vaudeville show at the Shedd.
I'm behind the scenes acting as a Choreographer, Acting Coach and Stage Manager.
The students are having so much fun and they will showcase all their talents!
The show is FREE and it's fun for all ages!😀🎭

The Shedd Institute’s E. Y. Harburg Academy for Musical Theatre presents the 10th semi-annual Vaudeville Hour! Academy students will be paying homage to the art of Vaudeville with musical numbers, comedy sketches, and more!
There will be one performance on Sunday, June 8th at 5:30 pm

Kara Churchill – Director
Kara is a seasoned performer, director, dance teacher, and coach. She brings energy, experience, and a love of musical theatre to every camp. She taught musical theatre at Thurston High, led Triple Threat workshops, and starred in productions at Cottage Theatre, LCC, and The Shedd.
Campers will love her fun, upbeat style and wealth of stage know-how! From the rehearsal room to the spotlight, she knows how to inspire confidence and fun in every young performer. Get ready to move, groove, and shine with Kara this summer!
Emilia Shipley - Dance
Emilia is a fun, outgoing choreographer who brings fresh ideas and unstoppable enthusiasm to the stage!
She recently choreographed Freaky Friday with Homeschool Co-op Theatre and loves combining movement with music.
New to RCT, Emilia is already making a big impression with her talent, positivity, and creative spark.
Your young performer is in for a joyful, high-energy week full of dance, theatre, and performance magic!
