Sacred Waters Community Birthing Center INC. (Eugene,OR) We work on an informed consent basis, teaching women and families of the many options available during pregnancy and childbirth.

At Sacred Waters, we feel it is necessary educate women and families about pregnancy and childbirth, empowering them to make the decisions that are right for their birth. We take our time with each woman, offering holistic care and ongoing support. Prenatal Care ~ All women preparing for birth and motherhood deserve excellent holistic prenatal care. With each prenatal visit, you will learn more about the changes your body will be going through as your pregnancy advances. At every visit, we will talk with you about your overall health and wellbeing. We also discuss your current stage of pregnancy and how your baby is developing and growing, and check in with you about what you are feeling and experiencing. There will be time for discussion, education, and guidance so that you will address any of your concerns pertaining to your pregnancy, labor, birth and early parenting. As a general guide, prenatal visits are scheduled every four weeks from the time of your first visit to 28 weeks, every two weeks from 28 to 36 weeks, every week after 36 weeks. As a licensed birthing center, we provide complete prenatal care here at the birthing center and also well women’s care services. This includes screening, diagnostic, laboratory tests, pap smears and routine blood work. Each prenatal visit will last approximately one hour. We will come to your home to do a visit between 36-38 weeks if you are planning a homebirth. We will inform you of any childbirth or educational classes that are available here at the birthing center or within the greater community. Laboratory Testing Available ~ We offer and recommend the following laboratory tests during your early pregnancy: Complete Pregnancy Panel which includes; Complete Blood Count (CBC), Blood Type and Rh Factor, Antibody Screen, RPR (VDRL) test (for syphilis), Hepatitis B screen, Rubella (German Measles) screen, and a random glucose, we can add additional testing such as HIV if desired. We will supply you with information to make informed decisions about all testing available. We also offer the option of Genetic screening tests such as the Quad Marker, which is done around 16 weeks gestation. Other tests, such as glucose tolerance testing, vaginal cultures, sexually transmitted infection test, PAP smears and urinalysis can be ordered as needed. We use Legacy Laboratory the majority of the time, however we also use Oregon Medical Laboratory for specific tests. Ultrasound imaging is also optional and is typically done at Oregon Imaging. Most insurance companies cover a portion of your lab and ultrasound. We recommend that you check with your insurance company regarding the percentage of coverage for these services. Post-partum Care ~ you and your new baby will receive care from your midwives up to six weeks post-partum. The midwives will provide information about pediatricians and other providers in our community for continuing care. Well Woman Care at Sacred Waters

We provide a full spectrum of services for the non-pregnant woman including:

Hello concerned citizen!
If you are reading this then I assume you want fair and simple coverage by OHP for home births and birth center births. We do too! We are asking that you join us in our efforts to improve coverage by contacting folks at OHP with your story and what you would like to see changed.
Not sure what to write? We can help!
Here are the major problems we have identified and our expectations for solutions. You can use any of these key points and your own story in writing your letter.
I expect the rules for OHP coverage of home birth with a midwife to be clear and public.
• Applications should be evaluated on clear rule-based criteria that are available to the public.
• Risk factors that are beyond routine midwifery care are already spelled out in the OARs (Oregon Administrative Rules- in this case therules that define midwifery care).
• Coverage should not be denied based on the opinions of a worker, it should be based on clear and public rules.
• Midwives are capable of assessing and responding to each client's evolving needs within their scope of practice as they arise.
• Stories about difficulties obtaining coverage are particularly relevant to this point.
I expect my midwives to be paid for the care they provide during labor in the event of a transport.
• The Oregon Health Authority has said that midwives will be paid for labor care that took place before a transport to the hospital but as of October 2015 no midwife has been paid for this care.
• Birth stories involving the care received before a transport would be particularly relevant to this point.
I expect my midwives to be paid for the care they give to my infant in the postpartum period.
• Midwives provide 6 weeks of coordinated postpartum care for mom and baby including home visits and breastfeeding support.
• Midwives are providing care to a covered individual (the infant) and should be paid for that care.
• Describing the excellent infant care and breastfeeding support provided by midwives would be relevant to this point.

Hello all!
Sending a call-out for some support! We've got a family here that is currently houseless and expecting a new little one around the end of July. They are a family of 3 (well, really, 4!) and would much appreciate help with meals and other necessary supplies. Initially helpful would be a cooler for storing food in their vehicle; as well, any precooked meals that could be easily stored, though they have no way to heat them.
Especially helpful are nourishing, protein-rich meals, as well as fruits, veggies, shelf-stable foods, etc.

Other supplies:
Baby blankets
Sq**rt bottle, for keeping cool
Lanolin ni**le cream
Prefold cloth diapers
Diaper covers
Towels
Sage
Car seat
Camelbak water pouch- this serves as a running water source for bathing the little ones.
Larger water dispenser
Baby toiletries (shampoo, soap, etc - natural preferred)
Confetti tempeh salad (from Kiva deli)
Cooler
Donations for a hotel for the first couple nights postpartum

We'll be accepting any donations during the next couple of weeks!

Please contact Sacred Waters Birthing Center at 541-344-7974 or drop food, supplies & donations off at the birth center during our open times -
2035 W.12th Ave. Eugene, OR 97402

Any help is very much appreciated.
