SUPPORT SYLVIA TITTERINGTON
Remember Sylvia my PT aid and scribe? Remember she’s in PTA school now. Remember when she helped me to work on you and how awesome she was? Well soon enough you might be able to have her work on you in our community, somewhere!
“To my beloved community,
As many of you know, I began the physical therapist assistant program at LCC last year. I am proud to say that I excelled in the first year of intensive classes, and in October of this year I begin clinical rotations. Each term I will be at a different location which will allow me to expand upon my current skills and learn from providers across Eugene.
I am grateful for the opportunity to fully immerse myself in this career. Clinicals require 40 hours a week of work plus schoolwork. This means that I will not be able to work another job to pay the bills. I had hoped that I would be able to cover this year with federal financial aid, but unfortunately my student loan offer fell short of my financial requirements.
Hopefully, that is where you come in! My goal is to raise enough money so that I do not have to take out a private loan. If you are able and willing to make a donation to my education fund I would be eternally grateful.
Part of the reason I chose this program was because I felt confident I could use these skills to better my community. I have seen firsthand how physical therapy can change a person’s life. The COVID-19 pandemic made it even more clear that persistent inequities that leave people without access to health care are a significant barrier to personal and societal wellness. With a PTA license, I plan to spend a large part of my time providing for low-income and marginalized individuals; those who are disproportionately affected by broken, inequitable and racist systems.
If I am able to utilize my community to pay for this second year of school, I would be able to start giving back as soon as I graduate, rather than worrying about paying back additional loans. If you have any further questions about my educational goals or anything else, please reach out. I started a GoFundMe, but I will also include my Venmo and PayPal information for those of you that prefer that avenue.
Thank you in advance for being a part of my community and being willing to support me on my journey of becoming a physical therapist assistant.
Sincerely,
Sylvia Titterington
