šŸ¾ā€¼ļøADOPTION ALERT

We’re looking for a very special home for Blueberry.

Meet Blueberry, a sweet standard poodle who has been deeply loved and incredibly well cared for his whole life. His owner recently passed away, and her wish was for him to continue living a happy, healthy life with people who will care for him the way she did.

Blueberry has been raised with exceptional care - a high-quality raw diet, attentive veterinary care, lots of attention, and a calm, loving environment. He’s a wonderful dog and deserves a home where he’ll continue to be cherished.

He will continue seeing our veterinarian for routine care and to support ongoing f***l microbiome transplant work, so we’re looking for someone committed to maintaining his diet and health routine.

He is 4.5 years old, his birthday is 9/26/2021. And he weighs about 35lbs. If you are located in Oregon and you think you may be a good fit please reach out!

We’re helping find the right person or family who can give him the life he deserves. If you or someone you know might be the right fit, please send us a message.

What we see in cases like this isn’t a bad dog - it’s a dog that doesn’t feel safe. Dogs labeled as ā€˜aggressive’ are often just scared, overwhelmed, or pushed too quickly.

When you slow things down, remove pressure, and let the animal come to you, everything changes.

That’s how we approach every appointment. Not rushed, not forceful - just patient, respectful care that allows pets to settle and be themselves.

If your dog struggles at the vet or you’ve been told your dog has ā€˜fear aggression’ you’re not alone. There are different ways to approach it that often make a huge difference.

We always prioritize a stress-free exam for all our patients 🐾

We focus on creating a calm, low-pressure environment where pets can stay with their owners, explore at their own pace, and feel safe during their visit. Sometimes that means a little catnip, a few healthy treats, and letting curiosity take over.

When animals feel comfortable, exams become easier and the experience is best for everyone.

Contact our clinic to schedule a relatively stress-free exam today to improve your pets health - holistically.

These are some of our favorite whole foods to support a pet’s health - no matter what diet they’re currently eating.

Foods like bone broth, fermented vegetables, eggs, organ meats, and high-quality fish oils provide nutrients that support the gut, microbiome, skin, immune system, and overall vitality.

But it’s important to understand something: these foods aren’t meant to simply ā€œcover upā€ symptoms. If a dog has itchy skin, chronic licking, or digestive issues, the root of the problem often begins in the gut.
Supporting the microbiome and providing nutrient-dense foods helps to reduce inflammation, and the body to re-balance and heal over time.

Quality matters, too. Whole, properly sourced foods nourish the body in a way highly processed ingredients simply can’t.

Even small additions like these can be a powerful step toward supporting your pet’s long-term health.

Most overlooked tool for dog dental health🦓

Raw Bones can be a great addition to your pets diet (especially if they are already eating raw). They help keep teeth cleaner, provide natural calcium and other important macro minerals, and give dogs the mental enrichment they need - and enjoy!

Supervision is important, especially when they are new to chewing raw bones. Choosing the right size and teaching your dog how to chew (not gulp) reduces the risk of choking.

When introduced the right way, raw bones can be simple, functional support for dental and overall health.

Sweet Pea has had great results since adding chicken feet to her diet. Her mom noticed calmer behavior (still playful, just more balanced), clearer eyes, and a huge improvement in breath and dental health.

Chicken feet are a natural source of collagen, glucosamine, and chondroitin - supporting joints, the gut lining, skin, teeth, and overall vitality.

If your dog struggles with:
• bad breath or tartar buildup
• joint stiffness or slowing down
• cloudy eyes
• hyperactivity or trouble settling
• dull coat or itchy skin
simple whole foods like this can make a powerful difference.

Meet Murphy, one of our 14-year-old patients who is thriving.

He’s lean, calm, happy, and still has great energy - something many pet parents don’t expect to see at this age.

A big piece to his longevity is nutrition. He eats a high-quality, balanced raw diet that supports his gut, immune system, and overall vitality. When pets get real, nutrient-dense food and proactive holistic care, aging doesn’t have to mean decline.

This is what healthy, supported aging looks like - and he still has many great years ahead. 🐾

Happy Valentine’s Day! šŸ’˜ Thank you to everyone who participated, it was such a treat reading everyone’s stories! It was hard to pick, but our fluffy valentine is…

Milo! 🐾 Here’s his love story that his Mom sent over:

ā€œFive months ago, my husband and I were ready and wanting to share our lives with another dog. We found this 15 week old corgi full of life and brought him home. Milo. I had been researching different diets and training styles to prep. But he, of course, challenged me on both of those and I had to find other options. I’m so glad that the food part is taken care of now that we’re apart of the Balance Vet tribe.

I also learned and played with an energetic modality that aligns fascia. His was way off and it showed with his difficulty in listening/watching and not biting me. A good tool to have in the tool kit with this active long-backed dog.

Now I could get his attention but he didn’t always want to give it. The Alpha Wolf Momma persona only worked if I added some fun and humor to it. Then I found an online program that trains using games. ā€œNow we’re talkinā€ Milo would say. Lots of treats, playing tug and most important, movement!!

I love watching him. Whether he’s figuring out what he needs to do to get that next treat, or just sitting outside, air-sniffing all the scents being carried by. This dog has so much character and the most unique mannerisms. They scream ā€œadore meā€. And since he makes everybody that he comes up to feel special, he usually gets adored. Even that big streak of naughtiness that runs through him, can’t dim the love and adoration we have for him. He leads with his heart and truly has a zest for life. Show us the way Milo.ā€
