Academy Of Scottish Herbalism

Academy Of Scottish Herbalism School founded in 2000 in Strathpeffer Scotland, instructing in traditional Scottish herbalism

The Academy makes available, both in America and Scotland, intensive, professional level training and distance learning in traditional and practical herbalism, nutrition, health-promoting lifestyles, healing and aromatherapy

Instructing in the art & science of traditional Scottish herbalism and ethno botany, the Professional Herbal Studies Course is a hands-on learning opportunity, designed to te

ach you to recognize health conditions, the herbs and foods that address them and how to care for the whole person. You will build and hone your skills in herbal research, plant chemistry, organoleptic testing of herbs, gardening, wildcrafting and harvesting techniques, creating, formulating according to ailments and dispensing of herbal preparations. Weaving both practical and sacred herbalism into your kitchen, garden, laundry and bath, you will also be sent on treasure hunts to libraries, arboretums, conservatories and nurseries, to the mountains, meadows, woodlands and into your community. As a vocational and technical herb course, this specialized knowledge is taught to prepare you as an herbalist, to care for your own health, your family and community, to build knowledge and confidence, to train and inspire you in the use of herbs and foods for healing, teaching you to empower yourself and others. The curriculum is based on the philosophy of traditional Scottish Herbalism and ethno botany. The herbs you will learn to use are mostly considered invasive weeds, now growing most places in the world, so common and rugged, they cannot be deforested. Powerful and yet so safe, they have been in use for hundreds of thousands of years. This style of Gaelic traditional herbalism, a practical yet sacred mind-set of approaches to health concerns and wellness reached its popularity in Scotland in the medieval period, and was sought after worldwide. These largely oral traditions have been collected for the past 400 years and the medical findings of learned-to-common Scottish folk, are now being proven distinct and valuable, by science. While being a powerful healing system of its own, Scottish Herbalism is modernly being incorporated into whatโ€™s called 'western' Herbalism. Yet the particular perspective of herbalism taught at the Academy is the primal and intact system significant to the culture. Appropriate for both the beginner and those experienced in other herbal methods, you will be trained to be proficient in a tradition of Herbalism, that many people over the centuries have lived by with vigor and vitality.

This year is the linden tree ๐Ÿ’š There will also be a live Zoom talk on Monday May 5th, where you can ask your specific questions ๐Ÿ’š

We ended the fear with The Comfrey Conference. We put a dent in the nonsense at the Hypericum Conference. We finally made sense of phytoestrogens at the Red Clover Conference. Now, let's flow and soothe, lubricate and protect, like mucus, the unsung hero of health, at the Linden Conference.
