One of the best things you can do to maintain mobility is to be mobile! Our lives become more sedentary as we get older and it can be easy to let hours go by without moving from your chair. If you don’t have a workout regimen, it’s even more important that you make time for movement throughout your day. Aim to get out of your seat for at least 2 minutes after every half hour. This may feel excessive at first, but your body and your mind will benefit from these short mobility breaks. Before you get started, turn on an upbeat or relaxing song. Moving in time to music is like giving your mind a reward. Now that the music is playing, try these simple and fun ways you can get moving. Focus on watering all of the plants in your home or office. Walk outside and take a lap around the building. Walk down the halls and every time you come to a low-hanging sign or archway, hop up and try to touch it. If you have more time, hop on your bike, scooter, or skateboard and enjoy the scenery.
