Born on December 21, 1933, Genevieve led a life characterized by her unwavering faith, love for family, and passion for teaching.

Genevieve spent many rewarding years as a teacher in the 4th grade class at Glendale Elementary, where she had very fond memories of her students. Her dedication to education was evident, as she not only taught but also inspired countless young minds. Genevieve was renowned for her ability to connect with her students and foster a nurturing learning environment.

A devoted Catholic, Genevieve found solace and strength through prayer, particularly through the rosary, which she held dear to her heart. Her faith was exemplified through her active involvement in the community; she served as the Eucharistic minister at St. Anthony, participated in the Ladies Altar Society, contributed to the Vocation Club, and was a member of the Omega Group. Genevieve was also an enthusiastic member of the Garden Club in Eunice, where her love for gardening flourished alongside her love for cooking and collecting recipes.

Genevieve’s personal interests extended beyond her profession and faith. She cherished the moments spent camping with her late husband, Rodney Manuel, and enjoyed nurturing her beautiful garden, which was a reflection of her nurturing nature. She held a special place in her heart for Saint John Vianney, often seeking guidance and inspiration from his legacy.

She is survived by her loving daughter, Laura Lombas and her husband Michael of Eunice; her sisters, Beatrice Rolla of North Carolina and Jeanne Cuadors of Georgia; as well as her grandchildren, David Lombas and his wife Danielle of Lafayette, Paul Lombas and his wife Marianne of Eunice, and Daniel Lombas and his wife Heidi of Baton Rouge. Genevieve also took immense pride in her great-grandchildren, Amelia, Andrew, and Adeline Lombas.

Genevieve was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Rodney Manuel; her parents, Peter and Mathilde Bellemin; and her siblings: Marie Fritsche, Geri Bellemin, Bertha Babb, and Charles Bellemin.

A Mass will take place at St. Anthony Catholic Church on November 14, 2025, beginning at 2:00 PM with Father Hampton Davis officiating with a burial to follow at St. Paul Mausoleum.
