1 year ago, after a LONG time planning, we began construction on our new Crisis Residential Facility. We appreciate everyone who has been with us from the start back when we thought we’d be open by 2023, oh the amount of red tape we underestimated! But it is with extreme confidence that we can now announce we will be finished with construction of the main facility in early 2926 and having youth in the building by spring 2026! Thanks for all your support over the years. We are still fundraising for other aspects of the campus. Check out our website for the ways you can contribute.

Help our Nonprofit support youth in crisis. Donate or volunteer. All Sorrel Leaf Healing Center donations are tax deductable.

Last Friday, we were honored to welcome Senator McGuire to the site of Sorrel Leaf's construction here in Humboldt County. He toured the grounds and showed his support for the critical work being done in his district to address the urgent shortage of youth mental health crisis services in Northern California.

Our Children's Crisis Residential Program represents hope and healing for young people facing a mental health crisis in Humboldt County and beyond, and we are deeply grateful to Senator McGuire for taking the time to see firsthand our construction progress.

Here are some photos from the visit!

We are excited to announce we are now hiring for our next leadership position, the Cultural Coordinator. This position is critical to SLHC's values and beliefs as they will be the primary person to create a network of peer partners who will help support youth from a cultural perspective while at the facility. Additionally, this role will assume coordination of our Cultural Council, an amazing group of folks who have been meeting for almost 2 years providing us with much needed advice and wisdom.
Check out our website for the many amazing benefits SLHC offers, along with a complete job description and application packet. This is an exempt position with a starting salary of $67,000.

Do you wish there was a small and easy way you could show your support for Sorrel Leaf? We are actively trying to build an employee library as a resource to staff.

These books will be available for staff to borrow and read as they wish, with some being used for onboarding, ongoing training, mentorship, and cultural activities.

Help support our goal by donating a book today. We prefer local used books whenever possible. Visit our website for the full book list. https://www.sorrelleaf.org/booklist

Check out this amazing ceremony! Perry Lincoln is one of Sorrel Leaf's cultural bearers, supporting the center in developing culturally specific services for young people. Perry and his team have been creating a dug out canoe the last 2yrs that will be put into the Eel River this weekend. This is the first time this has occurred on the Eel in over 100 years. Perry was also interviewed by KMUD last night! Take a listen to learn more. The interview is titled “KMUD News-Evening” and starts at minute 17. https://archive.kmudfm.org
