Soper Family Psychiatry Medical Group Established in 1996. Family Psychiatry was opened up in the late '90s as an effort to provide services in an area with very few options.

It is a small private practice Psychiatric office serving the residents of the Northern California area. We are staffed by Dr. Robert Soper MD Psychiatrist and Steven Roth Ph.D, Psychologist. We have a new office team as of January 2020 and we are striving to serve our community in ways we haven't been able to before. Our practice serves both adults and pediatric patients, families, and couples. W

More Good News Humboldt Co from SFPMG!! As of September 1st Dr. Robert Soper is now accepting adult patients with a referral from your primary medical doctor or a current/previous mental health provider. Our fax number to submit the referral is 707-445-0581. Dr. Soper will continue to accept minors 2 to 18 year olds and postpartum patients.

FYI: Aetna insurance does not accept Dr. Soper terms on being paid decently based off Dr. Soper being a psychiatric specialist, so our office will not be accepting any new patients with Aetna.

Hello Humboldt, here at Soper Family Psychiatry Medical Group we have a new provider that has joined our office.
We have a new Psychiatry Mental Health Nurse Practitioner-who is Board Certificated. Ms. Gift Oluchi Okwandu, PMHNP-BC has joined our office. She goes by Gift. Which means she is accepting new patients. Since our office is a referral based office anyone interested in seeking services is being asked to provide our office with a referral from their Primary Care Provider or other Mental Health providers. They are welcome to fax to 707-445-0581.
Just a reminder we are still closed to the public and doing Telehealth sessions with all our patients.
Gift, is accepting minors 12-up and adults.
We are so excited to have Gift, PMHNP-BC join our team!!

Dear Partnership Beacon Patients,

CARELON sent a letter stating Dr. Soper is no longer contracted with CHIPA. This letter was sent prematurely, as they requested information from our office and provided a deadline of 11/17/24. Our credentialing team is doing their steps to make sure this is taken care of within the time frame. We have sent in a formal complaint to Carelon due to the unnecessary stress they have caused many of our patients. We will keep you updated, in the meantime, if you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact our office during business hours Mon-Fri 11-6:30. We are here to help.
