Surrender isn’t giving up. It’s choosing to meet life exactly as it is, with an open heart.
I had the huge honor of sitting down with my longtime beloved teacher, Melissa Spamer, for one of the most intimate conversations I’ve ever recorded. In this interview, she shares her cancer journey with such honesty, grace and real‑world wisdom.
We talk about:
What surrender actually looks like when your body and life are turned upside down
The difference between collapsing, bypassing and truly letting go
How practice and breath held her through treatment
What changes (and what doesn’t) when everything you thought you could control falls away
This conversation moved me deeply and reminded me why we practice at all – not to perfect the pose, but to be able to stay with ourselves in the most tender, uncertain moments.
If you are moving through illness, caring for someone you love, or simply navigating a big life transition, I think this will land in your bones.
