We are often asked if there’s anything someone can do when planning to come in for a 4D/HD ultrasound with Nueva Vida Doula. Here are some quick tips and tricks to consider when scheduling your ultrasound visit with us.

Hydrate!
Drink plenty of water in the couple of days leading up to your ultrasound. Hydrating during preganncy is always important, and making sure to have baby hydrated as well can make a big difference!

Grab a snack
Your blood sugar and your baby’s blood sugar are connected. Try grabbing something to eat on the way to your appointment. Having a snack about 15-20min before your appointment can help baby have plenty of energy if we need to encourage baby to get into a better position.

Plan for the right timeline
We are happy to do a 4D/HD ultrasound anytime after 16 weeks or as late as hours before birth, however we find that the best images are usually taken between 26 and 34 weeks. Because we don’t charge any out of pocket amount to people with Partnership/Medi-Cal, it’s ok to come back in and around that time frame as well!

Be comfortable
We really rely on baby’s position to be able to get a clear image. If your baby is facing your back or has hands in their face, it can make it difficult to see baby’s face. In those cases, we often ask people to do some specific stretches that are most easily done in comfortable clothing.

❣️ We gave away $10,650 in food cards to four dozen families today. Originally we had planned to host a holiday party for our clients. But when the government shut down and people were faced with not receiving their EBT and WIC just before the holidays, we decided to scrap the party, add to what we had allotted for the party, and give food gift cards to our community instead.
We learned a lot today. And our very biggest takeaway was that our community needs help. We are here to support in any way we can, and ✨ this is absolutely something we will do again next year ✨

Every appointment that has been scheduled, every birth that one of our doulas has attended, has contributed towards this giveaway. Every time someone comes in for a doula visit, we can put a little more towards this fund for next year. We know that next year will be more organized, we will make sure to distribute the food cards in a way that more families can be reached, and we really hope to be able to put even more dollars into this fund next year.

Due to a high level of interest and limited funds, we will be limiting food cards to no more than 6 per family so that we can reach as many families as we are able. To claim food cards, at least one person per household is required to come in person. Each family is allowed one gift card *per family member* with a limit of six cards per household. No identification is required. Cards are Winco “Family Friendly” cards which allows the purchase of any item except to***co or alcohol.
Rain or shine, we will be there tomorrow morning!

We had three babies born yesterday and it was a *busy* day.
So when we realized this morning that we had missed this event, we kind of shrugged our shoulders, sad to miss the event but glad to make the donation.
I was so surprised when one of our dear Providence Labor nurses shared this photo! Moved to tears and would love if anyone has information on who the artist may have been so that we can reach out with our sincerest thanks!
