Setting up for Noumenia tonight!
Noumenia takes place on the New Moon, aka the first in the lunar cycle. It is a night of honoring the great Goddess Hekate, whose favor is earned by way of purification, warding, and appeasing the restless dead she presides over.
I would normally offer her a whole, uncooked egg and red wine, but I unfortunately do not have these items as of current (gotta go grocery shopping). So, I opted on mixing together garlic cloves, crushed cranberries, and honey together. I also poured out a lovely aged rum in her honor!
Tonight, I will take a cleansing ritual bath to purify my physical body and spiritual body. I will anoint myself with oils dedicated to the Queen, and I will prepare my space with incense (I normally use dragons blood, but I felt pulled to use my 'healing incense). Then, I will sit in quiet reflection of this past year as well as express gratitude for the many lessons and roads I've walked on this journey. I will give my thanks to Hekate, for it was She who guided my footsteps along my path. When I am finished, I will go on to walk my offerings down to the crossroads, where I will meet the Goddess in solidarity and peace. I will leave my offerings there and walk to my home without looking back at the crossroads. When I go to bed for the next several days, I will keep the journal I've dedicated to her next to my bed for the purpose of recording my dreams.
This is how I like to celebrate Noumenia! What New Moon plans do you have?
