WHAT IS MATERNAL PHYSICAL THERAPY?
I made a Venn Diagram to explain how I define it - an early and preventative health and rehabilitation model to help mothers:
• identify pre-existing orthopedic issues
• restore pelvic floor and core muscles
• optimize bowel, bladder, and intimacy functions
• reduce incontinence and prolapse symptoms
• reduce diastasis recti symptoms
• prevent future pelvic, spine, and hip pain
• have a "pelvic floor safe" fitness plan
💙I’ve been a pelvic physical therapy specialist for over 25 years. When working with my older patients, I would hear the same thing, over and over again…"I wish I met you when I was a new mom instead of a grandmother!" So, I decided to create a specialized clinic focused on maternal physical therapy, treating injuries and conditions caused by pregnancy, birth, and reproductive dysfunction.
