As Summer Winds Down, Don’t Let Back Pain Crash Your Last Adventures

Whether you’re lifting luggage, packing the car, or heading out for one more weekend getaway—smart movement can save your back.

✅ Safe Lifting Tips:
• Get close to the object
• Bend your knees, not your back
• Keep it close to your body
• Lift with your legs
• Avoid twisting while carrying

✈️ Traveling Soon?
• Use wheeled suitcases
• Pack heavy items in smaller bags
• Stop every hour to stretch on long drives
• Stay hydrated
• Adjust your seat and use lumbar support

🧘 Quick Stretches for Busy Days:
• Cat-Cow – Loosen your spine
• Knee-to-Chest – Relieve lower back tension
• Child’s Pose – Gently stretch hips and back

💪 Core Moves to Support Your Spine:
• Dead Bug – Lie on your back, alternate lowering opposite arm/leg
• Bird Dog – On hands and knees, reach opposite arm/leg, hold and switch
• Glute Bridge – Lie on back, press hips up while keeping core tight
Just 5 minutes, 3x/week makes a difference!

🚨 When to See a PT:
• Pain that lingers more than a few days
• Tingling, numbness, or pain down the leg
• Pain after a fall or lifting injury

Your Back-Saving Action Plan:
• Lift smart
• Move often
• Do regular core work
• Listen to your body

Wrap up summer strong—and step into fall feeling good!

🎉 Happy Birthday to Jackie! 🎉

This July, we’re celebrating just one birthday! 🥳 Help us wish a very happy birthday to Jackie Jeschke, one of our amazing PTs here at PEAK.

Jackie brings energy, compassion, and dedication to our clinic every day—and if you’ve worked with her, you know just how much she cares. 💪

We’re also sending her extra love this month, as she’ll be moving at the end of August to Texas. If you’d like to swing by and say hello or goodbye, now’s the time—PEAK will definitely miss her!

Happy Birthday, Jackie! 🎂🎈

🏃‍♀️🌞 Stay Active & Injury-Free This Summer! 🌿🏊‍♂️

Summer is perfect for running, hiking, and swimming — but don’t let aches and pains slow you down! Most common injuries are preventable with just a few smart steps. 💡

🔥 Warm Up First
Wake up your muscles with light cardio and dynamic movements:
✔️ Runners/Hikers: Leg swings, arm circles, walking lunges
✔️ Swimmers: Easy laps, arm swings, shoulder rolls

🛡 Injury Prevention Tips
➡️ Running: Watch for shin splints & knee pain. Wear good shoes, build up slowly, and run on soft surfaces.
➡️ Hiking: Avoid ankle sprains & knee pain. Use supportive shoes, hiking poles, and stay hydrated.
➡️ Swimming: Prevent shoulder strain. Focus on form, don’t overuse paddles, and listen to your body.

🧘‍♀️ Cool Down & Recover
After activity, slow down gradually and stretch key muscle groups. Drink water, refuel with healthy snacks, and get good rest. 💤

🚨 Feeling pain? Don’t push through it. Physical therapy can help you get back to what you love safely.

🎉 Happy Birthday to Aaron & Hayden! 🎉

This June, we’re celebrating two exceptional physical therapists at PEAK Rehabilitation Fitness and Performance — Aaron and Hayden!

Both are Board Certified Orthopedic Clinical Specialists (OCS) who bring advanced clinical expertise, compassion, and a deep commitment to helping patients move, feel, and live better every day.

🩺 Aaron, an Augusta native, joined PEAK after earning his Doctorate from Augusta University. He’s residency trained in orthopedics through Evidence in Motion and has published research on cardiovascular endurance in older adults. Aaron is dedicated to providing personalized, high-quality care—and when he’s not in the clinic, you’ll find him exploring new cities with his wife. ✈️

🧗 Hayden, a Georgia Southern and Augusta University alum, is also residency trained and brings a unique background in strength and conditioning. A Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) and experienced rock climbing coach, Hayden combines his athletic knowledge with expert clinical care to support patients of all activity levels.

We’re proud to have Aaron and Hayden on the PEAK team. Please help us wish them a happy birthday and an amazing year ahead! 🎂🎈

At PEAK Rehabilitation Fitness and Performance, return-to-sport rehabilitation is one of our core specialties. Whether an athlete is recovering from injury or fine-tuning performance, we provide tailored, sport-specific programming to help them return stronger, safer, and more confident.
Pictured is Sam Davis, a standout player from Augusta University Baseball, performing advanced throwing mechanics drills using our in-clinic pitching mound and sport-specific equipment. Sam is working with Vann Jordan, who brings extensive expertise in sports biomechanics and movement optimization. Vann consults with numerous collegiate and professional programs across baseball, soccer, golf, football, and basketball, with a particular interest in throwing injuries and ACL rehab/injury prevention. At PEAK, our team supports athletes across many disciplines, including swimming, gymnastics, tactical/military training, running, CrossFit, rock climbing, and more.
Our comprehensive, evidence-based approach helps athletes not only recover but return to the top of their game—often better than before.

🎉 Happy Birthday to Amanda, Summer & Wanda! 🎉

This May, we’re celebrating three amazing members of our front desk team at PEAK Rehabilitation Fitness and Performance—Amanda, Summer, and Wanda!

These ladies do so much more than greet you with a smile. From scheduling appointments and verifying insurance to handling authorizations, managing billing, and coordinating patient care, they keep our clinic running smoothly behind the scenes. They’re the friendly voices on the phone, the organized minds behind the desk, and the problem-solvers that make your visit seamless.

We are so grateful for their dedication, hard work, and the positivity they bring to our team every single day. 💙

Help us wish them the happiest of birthdays—you deserve all the celebration and more! 🎂🎈

📣 Join us in welcoming our newest PT student, Brandon Joseph, to PEAK! 👋

Brandon is joining us for a 10-week clinical rotation as part of his Doctor of Physical Therapy program at Methodist University. He’s passionate about learning, connecting with patients, and growing his hands-on skills in the clinic.

👨‍⚕️ Fun fact: Since 2015, all physical therapists entering the profession earn a Doctorate of Physical Therapy (DPT) — making PTs one of the many doctoral-level healthcare providers you may see during your recovery journey!

We’re excited to have Brandon on board and look forward to supporting him as he continues working toward his DPT. Be sure to say hi if you see him around the clinic!

PEAK Rehabilitation Fitness and Performance Shares Fall Prevention Tips During Older Americans Month

May is Older Americans Month, and PEAK Rehabilitation Fitness and Performance is raising awareness about fall prevention, balance improvement, and mobility maintenance for seniors in our community.
Falls impact one in four older Americans each year, but they are not an inevitable part of aging. Staying proactive is key to preserving independence and quality of life.

“Fall prevention often becomes a priority only after a fall has occurred,” say the therapists at PEAK. “We aim to help seniors take action before it happens.”

Common Risk Indicators:
Feeling unsteady while walking
A history of falls within the past year
Grabbing furniture or walls for support
Fear of falling

Evidence-Based Prevention Tips:
Stay active daily – Walking, water aerobics, or tai chi can boost strength and balance

Make the home safer – Remove tripping hazards, add grab bars, and improve lighting

Get regular vision checks – Vision changes can increase fall risk

Review medications annually – Some may cause dizziness or drowsiness

Wear supportive footwear – Choose shoes with low heels and non-slip soles

How Physical Therapy Can Help:
PEAK’s physical therapists specialize in:
Individual strength and balance evaluations

Identifying personal risk factors
Designing custom exercise plans
Teaching safe movement techniques
Educating patients on how to recover safely after a fall

Falls are preventable. Small changes today can lead to a safer, more independent tomorrow.

Movement is Medicine—At Every Age 🏃‍♀️🧘‍♂️💪

Meet one of our inspiring patients—78 years young and showing us all how it’s done! 💥

Staying active as you age is one of the most powerful tools for maintaining independence, preventing injury, and improving overall quality of life.

Regular physical activity can:
✅ Build strength and improve balance
✅ Protect joints and mobility
✅ Boost heart and brain health
✅ Reduce fall risk
✅ Keep you doing what you love

This patient is proof that age is just a number—and movement truly is medicine. Whether it’s strength training, walking, stretching, or simply staying consistent, every bit counts.
We love supporting our patients through every season of life. If you’re wondering how to stay active (or get started), we’re here to help!

💬 Let’s keep moving, no matter the age. Your future self will thank you!
