I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and have a passion for helping others by providing a warm,
safe, comfortable environment where you can truly be yourself. I have been a school counselor for over 16 years, and have worked with children in elementary through
the 12th grade. It takes an extraordinary person with a special heart to work effectively with children,
and I take a firm, direct approach with loving and nurturing support. In addition to working with
children, I also enjoy working with parents and families on establishing boundaries and managing the
increasingly difficult tasks of parenting in this age of entitlement. I am a mom and a military spouse who has lived and worked in the counseling field in South
Carolina, Georgia and New York. I earned my Master of Education (M.Ed). in School Guidance and
Counseling from South Carolina State University, and my Doctorate of Philosophy (Ph.D). from
Capella University in Human Services with a specialization in Professional Counseling . I am currently
pursuing a certification in Play Therapy, as well as a certification in Solution-Focused Brief Therapy. I
am a life-long learner, so I am continually seeking opportunities to attend workshops, seminars and
professional trainings to further my knowledge and enhance my ability to help others innovatively and
creatively. I do not subscribe to a particular counseling model because I don’t believe in a “one size fits all”
approach to meeting my client’s individual needs. Instead, I use my instincts and professional training
to help children, families and individuals look at their lives with a fresh perspective. I really look forward to being given the opportunity to developing a therapeutic relationship with
you. Let’s work together and watch your life unfold to be more fulfilling and meaningful.
