Anxiety doesn’t just live in the mind, it shows up in the body too! The gut-brain connection is real, and many people notice digestive symptoms become worse during periods of stress, overwhelm, or anxiety.

IBS and other GI symptoms can feel frustrating, isolating, and exhausting, especially when the cycle of stress and physical discomfort feeds into itself.

Supporting your nervous system through therapy, mindfulness, relaxation techniques, and stress management can help bring relief to both emotional and physical symptoms.

Your body isn’t betraying you. It may be asking for support. 💛

Meet Catherine Boyce, Ph.D
Executive Director & Evanston Therapist

In my practice, I encourage my clients to look outside of themselves to see they are not helpless and to look within themselves to understand patterns of behavior that may be interfering in their relationships and choices. I can help you become more aware and accepting of yourself and others. This self-acceptance will reduce stress and anxiety so that you can feel empowered to take on new challenges and create a more meaningful life for yourself.

I specialize in working with women who are struggling with life transitions, relationships, motherhood, and grief. Change, loss and the search for connection are all parts of the shared human experience. I have been doing this for 27 years and love my work!

“Why can’t I just stop thinking about it?

Because sometimes it’s not just thoughts. Sometimes your nervous system is involved too.

Overthinking and anxiety often overlap, but understanding the difference can help you respond to yourself with more clarity instead of more self-judgment.

You keep checking your phone. Replaying conversations in your mind. Wondering if something is “off.” And even when your partner reassures you… it doesn’t last. That’s not because you’re broken. It’s often anxious attachment.

This pattern comes from early experiences where love felt inconsistent, and now your nervous system is trying to protect you from losing connection.

But here’s the shift most people miss:

👉 The behaviors meant to keep someone close can actually push them away. The goal is not to need less. The goal is to feel secure enough that you’re not constantly in fear. That’s work you don’t have to do alone!

If you’re ready to feel calmer, more confident, and more secure in your relationship, we can help. Schedule your free consultation. Link in bio.

Your teen doesn’t need a perfect response.

They need a safe one.

Save this for the next hard moment or share with another parent who needs it 🤍

Your mind might try to move on… but your body remembers.

Trauma isn’t just a story in your head—it can live in your nervous system, shaping how you feel, react, and connect with others every single day. Healing isn’t about “just getting over it.” It’s about learning how to feel safe in your own body again.

You don’t have to carry it alone. 🤍

Thanks for sharing your recommendation for “The Body Keeps the Score” with us Iva!!

Dating can feel amazing… until it doesn’t. One minute you’re excited. The next, you’re questioning everything: your texts, your timing, your worth. That’s not random. Dating taps into some of the deepest parts of us:

👉 wanting to feel chosen
👉 wanting to feel secure
👉 wanting to feel enough

So when it’s inconsistent, unclear, or hot-and-cold? Of course it messes with your head.

But here’s the part to remember:

You don’t need to earn consistency. You don’t need to overthink your way into clarity. And you definitely don’t need to shrink yourself to keep someone interested. The right connection won’t feel like constant anxiety.

💬 Be honest—what’s something dating has made you overthink?

Posting shouldn’t feel like a test you can fail. But for a lot of teens (and adults!), it does. The pressure to look perfect, say the right thing, and get validation can turn something simple into something overwhelming.

If you’ve ever:
• Overthought a post
• Deleted something you liked
• Compared yourself to others
• Felt anxious waiting for likes

You’re not alone—and nothing is wrong with you. Social media is designed to keep your attention, not protect your mental health. You get to set boundaries. You get to decide what you consume. And you get to define your worth, offline and online.
