Did you know core weakness and low back pain could be a sign of Diastasis Re**us Abdominis (DRA)?
DRA is a separation of the abdominal muscles caused by stretching of the connective tissue (linea alba). It’s common during pregnancy—but men can get it too! Poor lifting mechanics, posture issues, and obesity can also play a role.
A diastasis isn’t always a problem on its own, but it can lead to:
👉 Core weakness
👉 Low back pain
👉 Trouble with bowel movements
👉 Difficulty managing intra-abdominal pressure
✨ The good news? Physical therapy helps.
Targeted core exercises (including the pelvic floor and diaphragm!) can rebuild strength, reduce pain, and improve function. At Link Physical Therapy we use Real Time Ultrasound so that people can see their deep core muscles working. This is a great way to train those muscles for a tighter core and more overall stability.
Let’s get your core working for you, not against you 💪
