Did you know core weakness and low back pain could be a sign of Diastasis Re**us Abdominis (DRA)?

DRA is a separation of the abdominal muscles caused by stretching of the connective tissue (linea alba). It’s common during pregnancy—but men can get it too! Poor lifting mechanics, posture issues, and obesity can also play a role.

A diastasis isn’t always a problem on its own, but it can lead to:
👉 Core weakness
👉 Low back pain
👉 Trouble with bowel movements
👉 Difficulty managing intra-abdominal pressure

✨ The good news? Physical therapy helps.
Targeted core exercises (including the pelvic floor and diaphragm!) can rebuild strength, reduce pain, and improve function. At Link Physical Therapy we use Real Time Ultrasound so that people can see their deep core muscles working. This is a great way to train those muscles for a tighter core and more overall stability.

Let’s get your core working for you, not against you 💪

👉 Chronic stress can lead to pelvic floor muscle tension, which often goes unrecognized as a cause of pain in men.
This is exactly what we see in the clinic.
💡 Pelvic floor dysfunction doesn’t just affect women. Men can experience pain, urgency, sexual dysfunction, and more—all linked to muscle tension.
📖 Take a few minutes to read (or listen to) the article. It’s a powerful reminder that your stress lives in your body.

"Wait... pelvic PT is for men too?" Absolutely!

Too often, we hear, “I didn’t think pelvic physical therapy was for men.” But here’s the truth: men have a pelvic floor, too.

Issues like pelvic pain, urinary leakage, erectile dysfunction, constipation, or post-prostatectomy recovery can all be tied to pelvic floor dysfunction—and many of these are highly treatable with pelvic physical therapy.

If you’re experiencing symptoms, you’re not alone—and you don’t have to live with them. A pelvic PT can help you take back control.

Contact us to schedule a full 1-on-1 evaluation or a complimentary 15-minute consultation with one of our highly trained pelvic physical therapists to determine if PT is right for you. https://www.linkpt.org/contact
