Please take a minute or two to review the following proposed legislation. Passage of HB 1367 has far reaching effects to the consumer—financial and religious, it would affect anatomical gifts as well as restrictions on carrying cremated remains to other states or countries. This Bill essentially changes the Cremation Act by putting regulations in the laps of the FUNERAL DIRECTOR/EMBALMER.

As we continue to work for our FUNERAL DIRECTOR MEMBERSHIP, we ask that you create a Witness Slip below and mark ✅⚠️❌ OPPONENT. If you have any questions please reach out.

Today marked the 26th Indigent Burial that CCFDA has participated in. Funeral Directors have stepped up to selflessly transport those left in possession of the county and unidentified.

For the last 6 1/2 years, a joint effort involving the Office of the Cook County Medical Examiner, The Catholic Cemeteries of Chicago and Funeral Directors has brought dignity and burial, with proper ceremony for these deceased.

With gratitude and thanks to the Cook County Commissioners, The Catholic Cemeteries of Chicago, Cook County Sheriff, there are many to thank for this humble service to our community. As well, several high schools have been present for the committal ceremonies at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.

I would like to thank CCFDA VP, Susan Dyer and Treasurer, Roland Weis for consistently organizing and coordinating the efforts of our funeral director participation. A special thanks to Martin Flagg, whose initial efforts and ideas put this initiative on the table.
