Greetings friends,

On August 2, 2021 Ben Dominech gave a wonderful monologue.
Among other things, he advised:

“Start a neighborhood group — present yourself under an umbrella that welcomes all other responsible members of your community who are sick and tired of being sick and tired, and who are willing to stand up.” That is the basic inspiration for this email.

It is the fourth point in the article:
85 Things You Can Do To Help The United States Shake Wide Awake, by Joy Pullman (whose husband is a pastor’s kid from Laurel, Montana—and who is a member of a Church pastored by my friend and schoolmate, David Petersen.)

Evil wins by isolating individuals and discouraging them from acting. The first thing that we need to do is break the grip of social media and get people together in person. The energy will grow the more that happens.

The second thing we need to do is to encourage one another. That means giving them the truth—that EVEN THE SMALLEST ACT IS MEANINGFUL. This article provides 85 ideas to get the ball rolling. Anybody can pick one of these tasks and accomplish it. That success will lead them to take up other tasks.

Some tasks are too big for a single person. The third thing that this group can do is to provide a place where people who are interested in collaborating on a task can find one another, pair up and work together. As tasks are addressed, the group can give positive reinforcement that will inspire others and strengthen resolve.

Success breeds success. As word spreads around the community about the existence of this group, other people will be energized and want to check it out. That’s why it needs to meet on some sort of regular basis and at a predictable place. The place should be neutral so that no one is inhibited because of crossing some threshold. Perhaps a library, or some school cafeteria. Churches might limit its reach.

We will avoid partisanship. There are many pro-life, pro-family, pro-sanity people looking for a way to build local community across the party spectrum.

These are just a few ideas to begin with. I am certain that a little brainstorming could flesh this out even more. But the seminal idea is clear and simple: Stop wringing your hands and start joining hands.
