When is it time to remove and replace breast implants?

•Pain or discomfort: Persistent pain, tenderness, or a feeling of tightness can signal a problem.
•Capsular contracture: This is the formation of hard scar tissue around the implant, which can cause pain and an abnormal shape.
•Changes in shape or size: Noticeable differences, especially asymmetry, can indicate that the implant has shifted, ruptured, or is causing other issues.
•Rippling or wrinkling: Visible or palpable wrinkles on or under the skin can be a sign the implant is not sitting correctly.
•Implant rupture or leakage: With saline implants, this can cause a sudden deflation. With silicone implants, it may be silent, so annual check-ups are scheduled.
•Patient desires a size change.
