JUST WOW!!! Happy 55th work anniversary today to Linda Taylor!
On December 1, we celebrate an extraordinary milestone: Linda Taylor’s 55th anniversary with Southwestern Behavioral Healthcare! Few careers span decades with such unwavering commitment, and Linda’s story is one of resilience, passion, and heart.
“I love my job,” Linda says with a smile. “It’s a busy environment up here most days, but the people who come to my window make my day, every single day. When someone says, ‘You’ve helped,’ that’s what keeps me going.”
Linda’s role on the front lines means she sees everything that walks through the door. “Every day is different,” she explains. “You never know what’s coming next, and that keeps you on your toes. I love the interaction with clients and with staff. It’s never boring.”
Her journey began unexpectedly. While still in high school, Linda worked part-time at the Child Guidance Center through a work-study program. Life changed dramatically when her father passed away, and her mother suffered a double stroke. Linda left college to support her family and accepted a full-time position. “It just became a family,” she recalls. Over the years, Linda worked at several locations, including more than 20 years at Youth Day Treatment (YDT), before moving to her current role as a Secretary at the Spear Building in 2009. “I didn’t want to leave the kids, but I’ve grown to love working with adults even more.”
Linda’s philosophy is simple yet powerful for those we serve: “You have to help yourself first before anyone else can help you.” She often reassures anxious clients, letting them know they have a point of contact and someone who cares. “Sometimes it’s just that familiar face that makes all the difference. I want people to feel wanted here, that we’re on their side, and will support them no matter what.”
After 55 years, Linda’s passion hasn’t faded. Her dedication reminds us that the heart of our work lies in human connection. Thank you, Linda, for your incredible service and for making a difference in countless lives.
