For those of you who don't know I have been in the process of writing a book, Sneak Peak of chapter 5.
Brandonâs Dove Hunt Adventure in Reed
In the small town of Reed, Kentucky, dove hunting was a revered tradition that brought the community together each fall. This year, however, the town was buzzing with excitement about a new participant: Brandon, known for his flair and fabulous sense of style, was joining in on the hunt.
Brandonâs father, Beckham, a local legend in his own right, was a seasoned hunter with a reputation for his no-nonsense approach. He had often used the phrase âThereâs something wrong with that boyâ to describe his sonâs unique approach to life. And today, Beckham was once again reminded of that saying.
As they prepared for the hunt, Beckham eyed Brandonâs outfitâa pair of camouflage pants with glittery accents, a neon orange vest, and a hat that looked like it belonged at a carnival rather than a hunting field. âBrandon, I gotta tell ya, thereâs definitely something wrong with that boy,â Beckham muttered, shaking his head with a bemused smile.
âDad, itâs all about making a statement!â Brandon said with a wink. âIâm gonna be the most stylish hunter Reed has ever seen!â
The morning was crisp as they set out to the hunting grounds. Beckham, though skeptical, couldnât help but be amused by his sonâs enthusiasm. Brandon, despite his glamorous getup, had managed to get the hang of hunting and had even hit a few doves. Beckham started to grudgingly admit that maybe, just maybe, his son had a knack for this after all.
Then, in a twist that no one saw coming, Brandon spotted what he thought was a particularly large dove fluttering in the distance. He took aim, his focus unwavering. With a decisive pull of the trigger, a loud whinny echoed across the field.
To everyoneâs shock and growing laughter, Brandon had mistakenly fired at a racing horse that had wandered into the area. The stunning thoroughbred, clearly unharmed but thoroughly perplexed, galloped away, leaving a trail of dust behind.
Beckham, unable to control his laughter, turned to the other hunters. âWell, I guess thereâs definitely something wrong with that boy!â he said between chuckles. âWho else would end up hunting a horse instead of doves?â
The hunters roared with laughter, and Brandon, caught between embarrassment and amusement, couldnât help but laugh along. âI guess Iâm just making history in my own way!â he said with a grin.
The tale of Brandonâs unexpected âcatchâ soon became a local legend in Reed. Beckham, despite his initial doubts, took pride in his sonâs unique mark on the townâs history. And Brandon, ever the good sport, continued to embrace his fabulous self, knowing that sometimes, making a splash means creating memorable stories that people will laugh about for years.
The horse lived on for years to come!
