Eyefinery Optical Boutique was founded in April 2017. It was founded upon the idea that there had to be a better way to give a more personalized and affordable way to get their glasses. I wanted to offer people a different way to create a personalized and patient centered experience when buying prescription eyeglasses and sunglasses. Eyefinery is people focused. Our goal is 20/HAPPY for every patient and to always do what is right. Eyefinery is about doing things a little differently, but better. I wanted to bring fun, fashionable, affordable eye wear to Evansville. Hi! I am Jessica, (probably should of started with that first) I am the owner and creator of Eyefinery Optical Boutique and I’m also a mother to three amazing tiny humans, a Pediatric/PICU nurse for 10 years, and I happen to married to a fantastic Optometrist.
I started this business with the idea and goal to give people another option for buying glasses. I wanted to make glasses for people but in a personalized way. I wanted to create an experience where they could shop for glasses at their convenience, in the comfort of their own home or place of their choosing. To me, this means giving people the “old school doctor makes house calls” style patient care and service (obviously I am not a doctor, but you know what I mean). Each time I would create a custom built pair of glasses for each person, one pair at a time. I want people to know what their options are and educate them why this lens might be better for their eyes or hobbies and why a certain lens or material will cost more than another....all the while keeping the focus on giving people what they need and not trying to up sell them to make a commission. Just take care of people and give them what they need. I focus on taking care of the person and their eyes. Taking the time to answer their questions and help them figure what they need and what is best for them, without the pressure of “making the sale” feels good in my bones every single time.
In a world full of endless options and places for people to buy glasses, I wanted people to give a personalized, tailored, and informed experience. How do we make buying glasses locally and shopping small business convenient, affordable, and provide timely and personalized service? We go to them!
Being small and local also means cutting cost to the customer. I design Eyefinery eyewear and it’s made of great quality materials and guess what?!?! Eyefinery eyewear comes from the same place most major brands come from.....Because it’s me ordering, buying and designing, I decrease the cost to you. Another awesome thing about it being small, you won’t see many other people with the exact same frame you have on your face. I also carry Vernon Gantry, because Dr. Scott Tisdale, the owner and founder of the company, has a great product and he designed it, takes care of me as a customer and is independently owned and operated. Jonas Paul is company that was created from the mindset of something different, bigger, and better.... and again they have an awesome product and customer service.
So I bet you are maybe wondering one of these things......
How does this work?
Eyefinery is an on location service that comes to you. Eyefinery is by appointment only. Currently the availability is M-F. Mornings, afternoons, and evenings. My schedule is built around my kids and my family. I am flexible and I can figure out a time and day that works best for you. I can come to your house or office and bring a bunch of awesome frames for you to try on. You can call the number listed on FB, the website, email me at eyefinery@gmail.com, or message me on Facebook or Instagram with any questions.
Eyefinery offers a great selection of classic styles with a mix of fresh and fun frames and sunglasses. We carry the independently owned and Optometrist designed Vernon Gantry. These frames are super cool and appeal to all age ranges, not to mention, are very affordable and their quality is excellent. We carry Eyefinery eye-wear, which is designed and created by me, Jessica. We also carry Jonas Paul for Kids. This line of eye-wear is parent and kid approved. These frames are affordable and so cute! We are a retailer of the popular DIFF brand too.
Do you take insurance?
I don’t. Wait, Say what?? Huh? Yep, I don’t take vision plans. I would love to tell you more on why I don’t. Ask me at your Eyefinery appointment and I’ll explain why. I will be more than happy to help you submit to your vision plan for out of network reimbursement though. I have paperwork for VSP, Eyemed, United Healthcare/Spectera, Davis, and other vision plans so that you can still have a way to use your benefits. Your vision plan will then review your claim and if you were eligible for that benefit, they will reimburse you at the contracted and agreed upon rate with your particular plan. Bonus info.... you can use your HSA to buy glasses at Eyefinery!
How do I get you to make me a pair of glasses?
I need a copy of a current and valid glasses prescription from Optometrist. If you need an exam I know a great Optometrist to send you too. After you select a frame, I will take a few measurements and then take that information and the frame with me. I will then cut and edge your prescription into lenses for your eyes and your frame. Then within 7-10 days, I bring them back to you for you to try on and make any adjustments to fit your face comfortably.
How much does it cost?
I charge a $40 in home/office try on fee. If you purchase glasses from me, then I waive the $40 fee. This $40 covers the cost of gas, vehicle maintenance, a sitter to watch the three awesome tiny humans I raise full time, and the hour I spend with you.
How much are your frames?
Right now, all Vernon Gantry and Eyefinery Frames are $75 for the frame only. Jonas Paul for kids are $79
How much are lenses?
The question that puzzles and confuses every person who goes into an optical and has no idea why they cost so much..... It all depends on your prescription and what your eyes need, but lenses start at $75 and go up. Most people can get a complete pair of glasses for $175-$225 (WITHOUT USING INSURANCE TOO)
How do I schedule an appointment?
Call, text, email, Facebook message or Instagram message to schedule an appointment.
How long does the appointment last?
About an hour for the initial in home try on. I don’t set a particular time limit on it. I enjoy talking to my clients, especially kids, they say the most awesome things. I want you to love your glasses and feel good about the decision you make, so I will not have a count down timer running with a buzzer that goes off after a certain amount of time.
What’s the warranty or refund policy?
This is a loaded question. Different for each brand of lens and each type of frame. Ultimately know that I am going to take care of you or your little one and do the right thing. Also know that if your dog chews up your child’s glasses, I am not a miracle worker, but I will sure try and help you out on a discount for a second pair to replace the one’s the dog chewed up. Normal wear and tear on frames means you put them in their case when they aren’t on your face. You clean the lenses with a lenses cloth or a clean 100% cotton cloth and use lens cleaner (NOT WINDEX EVER). If you have something on your lenses, like dust, dirt, marble tile dust, for the love of all that is self- induced scratching of lenses, please rinse the dust or marble micro razor blade partials off under running water before attempting to clean them with lens cleaner or a cloth. Normal daily wear and care means you can have frames last at least a year.
I have three kids, so I get that kids are hard on stuff, that’s why I picked Jonas Paul Frames, they are really durable and kid wear and tear friendly. The frames tolerate falling off their face and hitting the ground every once and awhile, but they can’t tolerate a Hulk smash foot stomp from a tiny human. Start teaching them early, “If they aren’t on your face, then put them in their case.”
