🤩River Bend Rehab Team Spotlight🤩

This week, in honor of National Rehab Week, we’re excited to introduce you to the amazing members of our River Bend Rehab Team!

👑We’re closing out the week by introducing the Queen herself — River Bend’s very own Rehab Director, Tish Marks!👑

Tish has been a Physical Therapist Assistant for 22 years and has spent the last 4 years as our Director of Rehabilitation. A proud graduate of Vincennes University, she began her career as a treating therapist, gaining valuable experience in long-term care. She now continues to expand her skills by also treating patients in inpatient acute rehab at St. Vincent hospital, giving her a unique perspective on both facility leadership and hands-on patient care. These experiences fuel her passion for helping others and guide the way she supports her team each day.

One of Tish’s biggest passions is fall prevention and recovery. She has worked hard to build a strong, comprehensive fall program here at River Bend — making sure residents have the tools, education, and support they need to stay safe and regain independence after a fall. She is also a Certified Fall Prevention Specialist.

Never one to stop growing, Tish is currently attending Indiana Wesleyan University to further her education and plans to enter University of Evansville’s ABSN program next year. Her decision to add nursing to her resume comes from her heart for helping patients in every area of their lives and her desire to be a positive influence within the healthcare industry. This next step isn’t meant to replace her career as a therapist — which she proudly calls her first love — but rather to broaden the ways she can advocate for her residents and support her team.

Her dedication and leadership were recognized when she was named Rehab Director of the Year in her second year in the role — an honor that reflects her commitment to excellence and her ability to inspire her team.

Tish is known for her light hearted daily banter with our residents (and our staff;)). She keeps the therapy department a fun, supportive place to work while still driving excellent clinical results. She truly believes in “seeing the whole picture” — making sure every resident, staff member, and family feels heard and valued.

🌟Fun Fact: Tish used to show horses and was once ranked 3rd and 4th in the nation in showmanship and horsemanship! She once made five 3pointers in one of her varsity basketball games. She won her county cross country meet in 8th grade. She’s does some pretty great accents. And….she can pick things up with her toes!🐴🏀👣

🌟Some things Tish’s amazing Rehab Team want her to know they love about her:

“You keep the workplace fun and positive even when it’s a dumpster fire and you are very understanding and flexible.” -B

“I love that you’re the kind of manager I can be real with — hug, laugh, tackle each other, talk and share our lives as friends foremost. You’re loyal and honest and protective of all of us. You build us up every day with what you say and the respect you show us. I value your opinions and ability to ‘think outside the box’ and love brainstorming with you. You genuinely LOVE what we do. Love ya Tish!” -C

“I have worked with Tish for 20 years. I am so proud of the leader that she has become. She cares deeply and passionately for her staff and residents. She works tirelessly to make our building and department the best it can be. She is ‘super extra,’ bringing the fun and doing whatever she can to make us and our residents happy. Her leadership pushes us to be our best. Personally and professionally, she is an amazing person and I’m so glad to call her my friend and boss!” -L

“There really are no words for how amazing Tish is. She advocates for our residents until their needs are met, brings light and silliness to the therapy gym that keeps us laughing, and spoils her employees. She is the most amazing boss and PTA — we couldn’t ask for a better rehab director!” -A

“Tish is caring, humorous, fearless, competitive(slightly frightening), compassionate, and never backs down from fighting for what’s right — the ultimate boss lady.” -V

🌟Tish is truly loved. Her leadership keeps the department inspired, supported, and full of energy — helping us all do what we love most: changing lives for the better.

🎉And that’s a wrap for Rehab Week!🎉 Thank you to our incredible River Bend Rehab crew for all you do each day — we are so proud of this team and the difference you make for our residents! 💪🏼💛

☀️⚾️ If you build it, progress will come. Last week our outdoor group therapy day transformed into the Field of Rehab Dreams—complete with “at-bats,” “seventh-inning stretches,” and plenty of cheers. Every swing, stretch, and smile was a home run as residents showed off their strength in true All-Star fashion.

And the best part? Our residents knocked it out of the park and earned their own baseball cards! 🧢📸 (Thank you, Liz Guetling, for your hard work on these!)

A grand slam of therapy, teamwork, and joy. 🏆
