Meet Leah, a recent Bodyworks Massage Institute graduate!
We asked Leah a few questions about what inspired her to pursue massage therapy, how she plans to use her new certification, and what her experience was like as a student. She shared her thoughts to help others who may be considering taking the same path.
Here’s what she had to say! ⬇️

What drew you to the profession of massage therapy?
"As a licensed Esthetician, I grew to love the spa experience, from the relaxation and giving my clients a place to unwind, feel safe, and temporarily have an oasis from the stresses of life, to treating their skin and meeting their needs. While dabbling in hand, foot, and scalp massages, I realized I love the concept of massage therapy and all it offered and wanted to explore it further. So, I enrolled at Bodyworks Massage Institute to start my journey of being dual licensed Massage Therapist and Esthetician."
As a newly licensed massage therapist, what aspects of massage therapy will you focus on? Do you have a targeted clientele?
"I would like to focus on emotional and physical pain and how it relates to the body. Somatic pain and trauma aren’t just physical, it’s emotional and mental as well. We hold trauma in our bodies, and I want to help those in need of healing. But not limit myself to just that as my passion, I want to explore all aspects of massage therapy and offer as many types of massage possible to my clients. Whatever their needs are, I want to help!"
Are you currently working as a massage therapist? If so, where?
"Yes, I am currently working at Solaris Aveda Salon and Spa in Evansville, IN"
Which states are you licensed in?
"IN and KY"
What additional massage therapy continuing education training would you like to receive?
"Craniosacral therapy, lymphatic drainage, somatic pain release, and myofascial release"
What topic did you most enjoy learning about with your training at BMI?
"I loved it all!! From the basics to in depth modalities and techniques!"
What would you say to a potential student who is interested in taking massage therapy training?
"Absolutely do it!! Bodyworks Massage Institute isn’t just a school, they become family. From beginning to end and even after you graduate, they are rooting for you! They want to impart the wisdom and passion for massage therapy and train others to go out and impact many lives. I highly recommend Bodyworks Massage Institute!"
Where do you see yourself in this profession five years from now?
"Five years from now, I hope to have learned some new techniques and modalities, while continuing to help people with their skin and body no matter where I am! "
