Meet Dena, A Bodyworks Institute graduate!

What year did you graduate from BMI?
2020

What was it that prompted you to seek massage therapy training?
I was inspired to pursue massage therapy after realizing how much stress and physical tension affect people’s daily lives. Massage Therapy fit in with my career as a Permanent Makeup Artist, where I could help people not only feel better physically but also give them a moment of peace and relaxation. My career allows me to connect with others and support their overall well-being, which is something I find really fulfilling.

Why did you choose BMI for your training?
I chose BMI for my training because of their smaller class sizes and more personalized approach. That was really important to me because massage therapy is such a hands-on skill, and I wanted to make sure I was getting the attention and support I needed to truly learn and grow. Being in a smaller class allowed for better instruction, more practice time, and a more comfortable learning environment overall.

Where are you currently living and are you still practicing massage therapy?
I live in Whitesville, KY and work in Owensboro, KY. I am still practicing as a Massage Therapist on a daily basis.

How has being a massage therapist influenced your life?
Being a massage therapist has influenced my life far beyond just a career. It’s taught me how important it is to slow down and be present—not just for my clients, but for myself too. I’ve learned to listen to my body, prioritize rest, and take time for myself without feeling guilty. It’s helped me create a healthier, more balanced lifestyle overall.

Meet Lisa, a Bodyworks graduate!

We asked Lisa to tell us about her decision to become a Massage Therapist and how this decision has affected her life. With this, we hope to give insight to someone who has considered Massage Therapy as a career.

I have been a full time Massage Therapist for twenty-one years, with plans to continue another seven years until I reach retirement age. I am thankful every day that I changed careers at age 36 to become a Massage Therapist.

Working with my clients to help achieve their wellness goals is very rewarding. It challenges my mind to determine the best course of action for each client, and it challenges my body to stay healthy and strong.

The education and training I received at Bodyworks propelled me into a successful career that I have been able to sustain. The small class size allowed for individualized coaching and feedback. Ultimately, massage is a career that has to come from your heart. People (your clients) have to know you care. Cecile taught me this.

Thirteen years ago, I moved to a new state and was able to rebuild a thriving practice quickly because of the excellent training I received at Bodyworks.

I am grateful every day for Cecile and the group at Bodyworks. I encourage anyone interested in massage therapy training to attend Bodyworks.
