This is exactly why our healthcare system is broken—and why DPC is the future.

I went to an in‑network facility.
I HAD INSURANCE THROUGH THE VERY COMPANY I WORKED FOR!

And somehow… I was charged MORE than a self‑pay patient....and yes my family and I had already hit our deductibles.

To make it worse:

My son was seen back in November, yet the bill showed up months later with an “pay ASAP” tone with emails, text, and mychart messages.

He’s double covered, and they didn’t even run his primary insurance before billing.

Now I’m stuck cleaning up their mistakes, spending time on phone calls, explanations, and appeals.

This isn’t healthcare.
This is bureaucracy, confusion, and inflated pricing disguised as “coverage.”

This is why Direct Primary Care (DPC) matters.

I’m honored to share that CuraDirect Healthcare – Community for a Cure has graciously invited me to serve as team lead for our upcoming cancer walk. This cause is deeply personal to me.

I was diagnosed with stage two kidney cell carcinoma—but that diagnosis is not my keeper. It’s part of my story, not the ending.

This walk is about more than miles or fundraising. It’s about showing up. Showing up for a family member, a friend, a loved one, or even for yourself. Being present can be powerful, empowering, and incredibly cathartic.

Donations are truly appreciated and help move the mission forward—but please know that your presence matters just as much. Walking alongside others, sharing space, and standing together in hope is sometimes the greatest gift of all.
