Good morning, guys, gals and nonbinary pals!

In honor of black history month I'd like to spotlight an East African culture, the Maasai, that developed this deeply rejuvenating and relaxing style of massage that utilizes a tool called a rungu. Made of hardwood, usually Eucalyptus, this tool allows practitioners with weak wrists to deliver very deep pressure and can help any practitioner with their joint longevity by reducing ware and tear.

Do you know anywhere that does rungu massage, or it's like from Asia, the traditional bamboo massage?

I have the privilege of taking a course of study in Thai Medical theory from the most dedicated and compassionate massage teacher I know. Naj has gone to great lengths to preserve and share the traditional Thai ways of healing and self care. If you are a thai massage practitioner I cannot recommend taking this course enough! I look forward to deepening my understanding and using that understanding to help my friends, family, and of course all of my fabulous patients!

A vibrant interactive distance learning class on Thai medical theory, it’s relationship with Buddha dharma, and Thai culture. Designed to enrich the work of Thai massage practitioners whether they are just starting out or have a long established practice. Tuesday evenings, February 4th - May 13th,

I'd like to make an analogy using this video

Imagine these dirty rug is your muscles, caked with cellular decay and waste from toxic foods like red dye 40. The cleaning solution would be antioxidents which of course won't work properly unless you are hydrated. Massage is the thorough and malicious scrubbing that works the solution in and the grime out. Finish it all with a good rinse, which is why we always insist you drink plenty of water after a massage and... there's still grime, because one massage isnt going to fix years, often decades, of neglect. But we go through the process again and again and soon enough you'll be feeling shiny and refreshed!

Make monthly massage appointments something on your list!
