Research shows that proper fueling (not undereating), good sleep, and regular meal timing reduce injuries, improve bone health, and boost performance—especially for female athletes. Diets rich in carbs, fiber, and fermented foods support gut health and lower inflammation.

Bottom line: Food is fuel, rest is training, and health drives performance.

We decided to post an encore of Teddie Day at the Statehouse because…let’s face it, 100 years is a pretty big deal.

Photos 1 and 2. President/CEO Emeritus, Mark Hintlian, speaking about the Hintlian family history and the Teddie culture created by his father and grandfather.

Photo 3. Catherine D’Amato from The Greater Boston Food Bank is speaking about our long-standing partnership with GBFB. We are incredibly proud of our association and the fine work GBFB does to provide over 80 million meals/year to people facing food insecurity.

Photo 4. Mark shares a laugh with Patrick Shaughnessy from Best Buddies International. Teddie has been a proud partner of Best Buddies for close to 20 years. Our CEO, Jamie Hintlian, serves on the board of Best Buddies and is often the #1 individual fundraiser for the Best Buddies Challenge.

Photos 5 and 6. Mark accepts citations from State Representative Judith García and State Senator Sal DiDomenico.

Photo 7. Group photo of Mark and his sister Margot with Senator Sal and his staff. The entire Teddie family is truly honored to be recognized at this ceremony, and we can’t say enough about the efforts by the senator's staff.

Our Story

It is a privilege to share the Teddie story with you. In the early 20th century, my grandfather, Michael Hintlian, and his family emigrated from Armenia and settled in the Boston area. In 1925, my grandfather and his family began producing and distributing a variety of candies and mixed nuts to local Boston retailers. During The Great Depression, The Leavitt Corporation began producing Teddie Peanut Butter as an affordable source of protein. When my father, James Hintlian, joined the company following World War II, he further expanded Leavitt’s commitment to quality and positioned the Teddie brand as a household staple. Under his leadership, Teddie Peanut Butter became the number one all natural peanut butter brand in New England. The example he set inspires and guides our brand today.

True to its heritage, Leavitt continues to be family-owned and operated, just as it was when my grandfather led the company over 90 years ago. Today, I am honored to lead Leavitt as the third generation Hintlian family member, working alongside my Teddie Family made up of siblings, aunts, uncles, cousins and an incredible team of 100+ dedicated associates. Family continues to be the secret ingredient to our success and the reason Teddie Peanut Butter remains New England’s number one peanut butter brand.

From improbable beginnings, The Leavitt Corporation distributes Teddie Peanut Butter and River Queen Mixed Nuts nationwide and to more than 20 international markets. And we continue to grow! But most importantly, we are a family-owned and operated company that is humbled at the responsibility of serving your family products of unsurpassed quality.

From our family to yours, we hope every member of Teddie Nation enjoys our products as much as we love making them.
