Two deceased in multiple vehicle collision

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - January 2, 2026

At approximately 11:24 a.m. this morning, Snohomish County 911 received reports of a multi-vehicle collision in the 10000 block of 19th Avenue SE. One vehicle was reported to have rolled over, with three occupants trapped inside. Callers also reported that one of the vehicles was on fire.

Everett Fire and Everett Police quickly responded, providing aid to those involved. There was no active fire upon arrival. Given the number of vehicles and patients, the fire and EMS response was upgraded to a Multiple Casualty Incident (MCI), which brought additional personnel and resources to assist on scene.

Tragically, two occupants of the rollover vehicle, a male and female in their late 80s, were pronounced dead at the scene. A third occupant of the rollover vehicle was transported to the hospital for further evaluation. Their current condition is unknown at this time.

Mutual aid was provided by South County Fire, and Northwest Ambulance assisted.

Shortly after this collision, approximately 15 minutes later, Everett Fire was dispatched to an apartment fire on the opposite side of the city. One man was rescued and transported to the hospital in critical condition, while a second male was transported for smoke inhalation. See news release (https://bit.ly/3YTUpz3).

Everett Police Traffic Safety detectives are investigating the cause of the collision. The 10000 – 10200 block of 19th Avenue SE was closed for the investigation and reopened around 4:15 p.m.

The Everett Fire Department extends its condolences to the families and loved ones affected by this tragic incident.

For further updates regarding the collision, please contact the Everett Police Department.

Thinking of drinking?

Breastfeeding families often receive mixed advice about alcohol use. While alcohol during pregnancy is known to be harmful, the risks during breastfeeding are less clear. When someone drinks occasionally or limits their consumption to one drink or less per day, the amount of alcohol baby receives has not been proven to be harmful.

If you decide to partake in a celebratory drink, it's important to know that alcohol leaves breastmilk as it leaves the bloodstream. It isn't “trapped” in milk. As the nursing parent’s blood alcohol level falls, alcohol naturally moves out of your breastmilk. Because of this, pumping and dumping does not remove alcohol from milk. Likewise, drinking water, resting, or having coffee does not speed up how quickly alcohol is eliminated from the body. For these reasons, the old advice to “pump and dump” is no longer considered evidence-based.

You can find more information on alcohol and breastfeeding on our website.

Alcohol is present in breastmilk at the same levels as it is present in the nursing parent's blood. As alcohol leaves the bloodstream, it also leaves breastmilk, so there is rarely a need to pump and dump." The La Leche League USA logo is below the text.
