Some patients come and see us to get out of pain, others come for improved overall health and wellbeing. This week’s Correction of the Week spotlights a patient who came in primarily for improved alignment and overall health. When he first came to see us he had complaints of mild lower back pain, but had also noticed that over the years his posture had become compressed and he felt like he was getting a slouch from years of computer use. Bad posture is not just cosmetic, research has also shown it causes a myriad of health conditions and can even take years of your life! By teaching him posture exercises, combined with adjustments and spinal traction he was able to improve his posture and undo several years’ worth of damage caused by working on a computer.

This week’s Correction of the Week is another car accident case. This driver lost control of their vehicle while driving after a heavy snowfall and hit the guard rail. The force of the collision sent her body jerking back and forth, and shortly after she began to notice pain and pressure in her lower back and hips. X-rays of her spine showed that she had knocked her ribcage forward to her pelvis, and when she would try to stand up straight she would put an abnormal stress on her muscles and joints. When we think of car accidents we often think of whiplash and neck injuries, but many people also suffer injuries to other parts of their body as well, as in this young lady’s case. After going through the Align Chiropractic model of exercise, adjustments, and traction, she was able to get out of pain and get back to her normal life, as well as fixing the misalignment that was created by the accident.
