About Ariel Shea

Welcome! I am a licensed psychotherapist and have been working with children, adolescents and families for 20 years. I am truly passionate about empowering people and helping them build resiliency in their lives.

I work with a wide range of clients and am especially passionate about working with adolescents, young adults and women who are experiencing stress, anxiety and difficulties with life transitions, such as work/school transitions, emerging adulthood, parenthood and personal relationships. I believe in a supportive and collaborative approach and enjoy connecting with you in an authentic way.

I started my private practice in 2009, after working in a variety of mental health environments, including outpatient clinics, schools and children’s psychiatric units. I have an integrative approach, blending strength-based and evidence-based perspectives such as Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance & Commitment Therapy and mindfulness techniques. I also offer specialized tools for anxiety disorders, including Exposure Therapy and Response Prevention (E/RP). Brené Brown’s work on vulnerability and self-compassion has infused my work with even deeper layers, reminding us that embracing our vulnerability is both courageous and the way to better connection and truly being “seen.”

I am also currently part of the LeanIn 1220 Team in Evergreen, Colorado, aimed at increasing outreach and therapeutic support to adolescents and young adults in the mountain communities. We are passionate about advocacy and are working hard to decrease stigma around mental health and collaborate with community groups to decrease teen su***de risk in our area.
