We often get so caught up in our point of view that we forget to listen to what our partner is saying. ⁠

Take the time to listen to your spouse and try to understand their perspective even if you don’t agree or think they’re wrong. Showing them that you’re listening can help de-escalate the situation.⁠

And when it's your turn to speak, speak slowly, calmly, and with an even tone of voice. This is going to help you and your partner keep your calm and prevent the whole argument from going off the rails.
