24 hours later—I was shocked at how fast it healed.

1. Visceral Fat, Epicardial Fat, and Chronic Disease

Visceral adipose tissue (VAT), especially epicardial adipose tissue (EAT), is directly implicated in nearly every major chronic disease that causes death:
• Heart attacks (myocardial infarctions)
• Heart failure
• Strokes
• Atrial fibrillation
• Hypertension
• Type 2 diabetes
• Insulin resistance
• Alzheimer’s disease (sometimes called “type 3 diabetes”)
• Autoimmune conditions
• Certain aggressive cancers (e.g., colorectal, pancreatic, breast cancer)
(Visceral fat creates a profoundly inflammatory environment systemically, promoting cancer progression too.)

2. Mortality Numbers: Chronic Disease vs. Cancer
• Cardiovascular disease (CVD) alone kills about 18–19 million people per year worldwide (WHO 2024).
• Cancer kills about 10 million people per year worldwide.

So purely by the numbers, CVD alone kills almost twice as many people as cancer — before even factoring in diabetes, Alzheimer’s, strokes, and other visceral-fat-mediated conditions.

And importantly:
• Virtually all cardiovascular disease (heart attacks, strokes, heart failure) has visceral fat — particularly EAT — at its core.
• Most diabetes and Alzheimer’s disease have visceral fat at their root too.

Thus, visceral fat–mediated diseases collectively kill vastly more people than cancer does.

3. Visceral Fat Also Promotes Cancer

Another critical point:
Visceral fat and its chronic inflammation also increase the incidence and aggressiveness of many cancers.
Examples:
• Higher visceral fat = Higher risk of pancreatic cancer, colorectal cancer, breast cancer, liver cancer.
• EAT and VAT release cytokines (IL-6, TNF-α) that create an environment favoring tumor growth.
