👀 Yeah, that's no joke. Here's the story...

I was diagnosed with anxiety 30+ yrs ago. Didn't hold me back from getting an MBA or a successful corporate career.

The stress of my work sometimes opened the door for my anxiety, but I pushed through and never let on.

In my late 40s things unraveled a bit...

I was laid off and said goodbye to that career
My mother passed away unexpectedly
A family member was diagnosed with cancer
My cat/best buddy of 17 years died
The pandemic started

Finally, some old health issues arose and I couldn't take anymore. My mind and body just freaked the F out!

The stress and anxiety went wild, I couldn't eat, and I was basically bed-ridden for several days and convinced I was going to die either from my physical illness, the anxiety, or both.

It had never been this bad.

With the support of my doctor and my husband, I recovered, but it was a wake-up call.

When I was strong enough, I went back to my yoga, breathwork, and meditation practice to continue my healing.

They helped me connect my body and mind. I learned my triggers and how to manage daily stress and anxiety.

With consistent practice, I'm better able to manage daily stress and not let it build up to an unmanageable level.

I know now that I have tools I can use and I no longer fear stress and anxiety.

I'm not special, I'm just like millions of other women, but I found a path forward that is accessible, affordable, and doesn't require hours out of the day.

If this helped me I knew it could help others.

And that's how Meg D Yoga came to be!

This is about YOU and what YOU need!

As a coach, I want to help you find ease and manage stress in a way that works for the unique human you are and your lifestyle.

I teach restorative and mindful forms of yoga, breathwork, and meditation to help women learn techniques they can use every day.

Each of these can help you find more ease in your body, breath, and mind.

BUT! that doesn't mean YOU have to do all 3!

Can you? Absolutely!

But, the reality is one or two of these may click with you more than another.

Just because I or other students do 1, 2 or all 3 doesn't mean you have to!

I want to give you space to try all three, to practice all three, and learn which methods work for you!

Once you know what works for you, you can focus on that! You can find that ease, and you can bring it to your life daily.

Take what works and leave what doesn't.

I'm here to guide you, cheer you, support you, and empower you.

What pops into your mind when you read that?

Does the thought of 'making time for yourself' stress you out a bit? It's ok.

Do you think it means spending an hour exercising, or have a spa treatment, or go out with friends?

Does it feel selfish?

We put so much pressure on ourselves to do it all and to do it "right" including self-care.

STOP! Say it with me now: "F THAT!!"

Making time for yourself can and should be about whatever YOU need it to be for however long you need it to be.

Movement. Meditation. A cup of coffee. A nap. Reading. A walk. Fill in the blank______.

For an hour, for 5 minutes. IT DOESN'T MATTER.

The only thing that matters is that you do it and you enjoy it.

Yes, when you take care of yourself, you can show up better for everyone else later.

You and your well-being are not negotiable, my friend.

Your breath is a powerful tool for helping manage stress.

Seriously, breathwork is not just a buzzword for another woo practice, friend.

It's a real, science-backed method that has so many benefits (hint: check my reels!).

The problem? There are SO MANY breathwork styles and practices out there that it can get overwhelming FAST!

The solution? KEEP IT SHORT AND SIMPLE!

As a certified Yoga Breathing Coach®, I teach a small, specific set of exercises, that are easy to learn and understand why they work.

Oh, and hey, don't let the word 'Yoga' scare you...there is no yoga involved!

Go back and read that again.

One of the most important steps I took to manage my stress and anxiety was to stop fighting it so hard.

I needed to step back and see it for what it was, what its purpose was and what it was trying to teach me.

Developing a consistent mindfulness meditation practice was key.

You do not have to clear your mind to meditate. Instead, with mindful meditation, we learn to observe and reflect what is happening in our mind and our thoughts without placing judgment on them or ourselves.

You become a witness to your mind and how it responds. You become more objective and less reactive.

Don't be afraid of trying meditation as a way to learn how to be really present in the moment and more aware of how you respond to the world around you.

It can help you sit and be with what's uncomfortable.

I'm not shy about my love affair with yoga props!

Yoga props are not 'cheating'! Far from it!

Blocks, straps, and bolsters can all help you achieve more in your practice no matter what yoga style you are practicing.

They can help you relax fully (supported child's pose anyone?) and even challenge you (anyone who's done any pose with a block between the thighs knows what I'm saying)!

But what if you don't have any? Or your budget is limited?

Well, I put together a short video that goes over some common yoga props and also shows you simple ways you can DIY them at home without spending a dime!

Are you hard on yourself? Are you your toughest critic?

I know am. But here's what I also know...

You can be your toughest critic and still love yourself!

Balance out the critic with a daily dose of self-compassion.

Try this:

Sit comfortably and place your hands gently over your heart.
Either close your eyes or lower your gaze.
Focus on your breath and just be for a few moments.
If you like, repeat the following to yourself as many times as you want:
'May I be happy'
'May I be safe'
'May I be healthy'
'May I be at peace'

That didn't take long did it? How do you feel?

If I could offer only one thing to my clients, friends, followers... it would be this: You are the only person who is with you 24x7. Love yourself. You deserve it and you are worthy of it!
