Many of us are skilled at working hard but could use more practice with resting. Savasana is your scheduled time to practice rest and may be the most important part of our physical yoga practice.
We live in a culture where productivity is praised and the art of just being is labeled as “lazy.” Our younger generations deserve better than these labels. We must model a balance of work and rest each day for our children, but how are we supposed to do that if we don’t know how to do it ourselves?
Both the physical and philosophical practices of yoga teach us how to approach this balance in life. Yoga teaches us how to discover our self-worth no matter how we are spending our time.
